The Role


An opportunity has become available for a qualified Fitter/Machinist to join our Assets Management team here at Transdev Sydney Ferries. As the qualified fitter you will be providing assistance to the Supervisors, and other tradespersons in the maintenance and repair of vessels within Transdev Sydney Ferries.


A large part of this role will have the capacity to work in a multi-disciplinary team and working within time constraints. This role could see you working on servicing & maintenance of diesel engine systems one time, the next working on dismantling & re-assembly of pumps, motors, valves, and its related components.


You will play a key role in identifying, eliminating or controlling of workplace hazards and notifying relevant workplace committee and Line Manager for action.

This role will be permanent full time and will be based in our Balmain Shipyard, however you may be required to work in different locations such as Circular Quay, Barangaroo, Manly, and Inner Harbour Wharves.


About you


We are looking for someone who is a trade certified fitter (Cert III in Engineering - Mechanical Trade (Fitting/Machining)) with great problem solving and fault finding abilities, someone whose worked within the marine and/or industrial environment. Someone mechanically minded with a regard for safety, who’s curious and has a genuine eagerness to learn. Great coordination and time management skills will be required for this role so that asset management activities are met within deadlines as per our KPI’s.


This role will suit someone naturally collaborative and offers to other teams when you can see a need, building strong working relationships both internally and with external contractors.
