The Role

Ventia are currently seeking a Seams Person to join our team on our Defence contract. In role, you will support the Site Leader and will be working under the Supervision of the Lead Seamstress to assist in the efficient day-to-day operations of the clothing store. This will include sewing rank, insignia and badges following Defence specifications as well as measure, fit and alter personnel uniforms.

This is a permanent part-time position, working 15.2 hours per week (2x 7.6hour days) and will see you based at Irwin Barracks in Karrakatta, WA.

To be considered for this position, you must be an Australian Citizen and willing to undergo a police check.

Your duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • General Sewing and alterations, using industrial sewing machines
  • Medal mounting
  • Ensure medals are secure at all times
  • Receive, check and release items, including kit issues to recruits and other base activities
  • Provide service to customers in selecting and fitting clothing items when required
  • Maintain accurate stock movement records using in-house computer systems
  • Process documentation and perform EFTPOS transactions and reconciliation activities
  • Pick and process customer orders for other stores and assist with processing disposals

Skills & Experience:

  • Experience as a seamstress / tailor and use of industrial sewing machines
  • Experience within a clothing store will be highly regarded
  • Must have a valid WA Driver’s License
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment medical and National Police Check
