Ventia is currently seeking to employ a collaborative and engaging Commercial Manager to support contracts such as the Responsive and Programmed Maintenance to Homes (RAPM) contract in NSW. Ventia have been providing services to Homes NSW formerly (LAHC) since 2002, delivering more than 350 000 programs of work annually since then.

The role will provide efficient and effective management of commercial and contractual matters and active day-to-day administration of the head contract and any subcontracts placed on projects. You’ll ensure the contract exceeds performance in the standards specified in the Performance Management Framework to deliver the Contract strategy and objectives.


Key duties but not limited to

  • Provide sound guidance and advise on a wide range of commercial work relating to, but not limited to, contract entitlement, claims and disputes, commercial and contract risk management
  • Reviewing the financial position of the contract and identifying any potential risks or gaps in the contracts performance or revenue recovery, investigating these and developing strategies and implementing corrective actions as needed
  • Review, provide advice and propose drafting in relation to contract terms and conditions or departures with input from sector commercial and legal team as required
  • Prepare variations to the contract as necessary, negotiating contract extension and leveraging additional work to maximize the value of the contract agreement
  • Maintain the commercial register and communicating key milestones and deadlines
  • Addressing deviation or issues promptly and working towards resolving these in a timely manner
  • Communicating with stakeholders such as operations managers and project directors to monitor issues and provide recommendations before issues escalate

Skills and experience

  • Tertiary qualification in Business, Law, Finance or Commerce is preferred
  • Significant experience in negotiation and communication skills
  • Strategic thinker and high level of decision-making abilities
  • Knowledge of Commercial/Contract requirements, principles and practices (incl. budgets)
  • High level of computer skills and report writing (including MS Word, Excel & PowerPoint and other software programs)
  • Significant experience in contract/commercial preparation and negotiation
  • Ability to take ownership in ensuring commercial outcomes, while working flexibly and adaptively in a complex environment with multiple stakeholders
  • Excellent knowledge/interpretation of Laws; Contracts; Acts; Regulations and Standards
  • This position also requires you to obtain a National Police Clearance check.
