Ventia is looking for an experienced Field Scoper / Surveyor to join our Telecommunications Fixed Network Team in the new year. The role is designing and constructing new Inter Capital Optic Fibre paths between major cities across the country, this role will mostly be for works between Brisbane and Sydney and will require you to work either a 10/4 or 21/7 roster (living away from home).

About the Role
In this role you will undertake field survey and design activities for the installation of new telecommunication assets. You must be physically fit and able to walk long distances through paddocks and uneven terrain. Responsibilities include –

• Meet with landowners, stakeholders and clients daily
• Designing a constructable route for the installation of assets over the project
• Identify different construction methodologies for installation
• Survey existing assets while in the field
• New buildable route methodologies using a live mapping system that our design and CAD teams have direct access to
• Entering and exiting manholes and pits when required, prove small sections of conduits using rodding methods and locating existing underground services and transponders
• Daily reporting and attending internal meetings with project teams

Required Skills and Experience
It is essential that you are comfortable working away from home for long periods and able to drive long distances in accordance with the Ventia vehicle policy and journey management plans.

• Relevant trade qualification / experience in similar role
• Previous experience working with telecommunication design and/or construction using optic fibre ploughs, boring machines and pit pipe crews
• Strong knowledge of Telstra standards around civil construction
• Ability to read and understand telecommunication construction plans
• Understand Telstra Coax, Copper and Optical Fibre Network
• Have knowledge of Optus Uecomm and other 3rd party telecommunication standards
• Ability to select different construction methodology for installation to best suit client and construction team requirements
• Sound computer skills (iPad, Trimble GPS, Power Point)
• High attention to detail with solid problem-solving skills and sound communication skills (written and verbal)
• Current drivers licence
