About the role

As the Ganger Class 3, you are integral to the success of V/Line's Network Development, Assets and Maintenance Group.

The purpose of the Ganger's role is to supervise and participate in the maintenance and renewal of track infrastructure, ensuring its safety and efficiency. The role is critical in maintaining the condition of rail reserves, track materials, and crossings, and it also ensures compliance with safety, operational, and environmental standards.

Key Accountabilities include:

  • Track Maintenance & Supervision: Supervise and participate in maintaining and renewing track infrastructure, including track components and associated crossings.
  • Safety & Risk Management: Ensure a safe work environment by identifying and managing risks and responding to OH&S issues.
  • Customer & Community Engagement: Prioritize customer safety and experience and resolve issues or complaints with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Reporting & Compliance: Complete administrative tasks and ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and operational standards.
  • Team Leadership & Collaboration: Foster teamwork, collaborate with colleagues, and contribute to improving productivity and efficiency.

About you

V/Lines Ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise in track maintenance, excellent leadership skills, and a commitment to safety, proactively managing risks for both the team and the public. They should be experienced in supervising and participating in track renewal and maintenance tasks.

Our ideal candidate will possess the following:

  • Demonstrated alignment to V/Line's values of responsiveness, integrity, impartiality, accountability, respect, leadership and human rights.
  • Current Driver's License to travel to different work locations across the region.
  • A Certificate 3 - Infrastructure is essential
  • Track Force Protection Coordinator level 3 certificate is essential.
