Head of Diversity & Inclusion

About the role

Are you passionate about creating a workplace where everyone feels valued and included? As the Head of Diversity & Inclusion, you'll be at the forefront of driving our commitment to a diverse and equitable environment. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Strategic Leadership: Develop and integrate comprehensive strategies and frameworks for diversity, inclusion, and equity into business operations, ensuring alignment with organisational objectives.
  • Policy Development: Design, implement and update policies and procedures that promote diversity and inclusion addressing emerging industry and societal issues and trends while ensuring compliance with relevant diversity laws and regulations.
  • Program Management: Lead the execution of key action plans, like the Gender Equality Action Plan (GEAP), and track the progress of diversity initiatives.
  • Partnership Building: Build and manage partnerships with external organisations, advocacy groups, community organisations, and educational institutions to promote awareness, advocate for diverse hiring practices, and improve diversity recruitment and retention efforts.
  • Performance Measurement: Establish and regularly evaluate key performance indicators (KPIs) for diversity and inclusion programs and prepare detailed reports on with findings and recommendations for continuous improvement to senior leadership and stakeholders.

Our ideal candidate will possess the following:

  • Leadership and Change Management: Exceptional leadership, change management, and strategic planning skills.
  • Effective Communicator: Ability to communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders and drive consensus in complex environments.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of diversity-related regulations and best practices, with an understanding of the broader social context affecting workplace diversity.
  • Data-Driven: Strong analytical skills for data interpretation and reporting, with the ability to provide insights and recommendations supported by data.
  • Influential: Ability to positively influence change and foster an inclusive culture.
  • Proven Success: Demonstrated ability to manage diversity-related programs and evaluate their impact.
  • Analytical Expertise: Strong analytical and critical thinking skills to assess data and develop actionable insights.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills to influence a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated alignment to V/Line’s values of responsiveness, integrity, impartiality, accountability, respect, leadership and human rights.
