About the role:

As the Specialist – Cyber Threat Defence , you will be responsible forimproving and maintaining security logging and detection capabilities to ensure visibility and alerting of cyber related activity in line with business risks and strategy. Support the Manager Threat Defence in the effective administration and review of the security systems, policy, procedures, and measures to ensure preventive and recovery strategies are in place, and to minimise the risk of unauthorised access bysecurity threats.

Proactive and positive with a forward-thinking working style, you will contribute to the continued analysis of the effectiveness of Water Corporation’s detection and response services to manage operational cyber security risks. Additionally, this role will see you developing processes and measures to monitor trends in threats, incidents and complete root cause analysis of failures of controls.

Key skills and experience:

There are a few things that we’ll look for in your CV;

  • Extensive Cyber Analyst experience or equivalent, which should include:
    • Lead Incident Investigation and Response
    • Contribute to Vulnerability and Threat Management strategy development
    • Contribute to Incident detection and response automation strategy
  • Substantial experience & knowledge within IT/OT contributing towards cyber threat defence strategy
  • Strong interpersonal skills including written and verbal communication across organisational levels, stakeholders and customers, including MS Office suite of tools.
  • Strong skills working with security tools, vulnerability management, SIEMs, log analysis, incident management, Threat Hunting, Logging maturity assessments, automation.
  • Substantial and broad technical knowledge of IT and OT Infrastructure areas of responsibility
  • Current or progression towards GIAC or CISSP certification would be desirable.

What the role will include

  • Champion strategic improvements of logging, detection and response capabilities; including process automation
  • Take a lead role in the day-to-day monitoring and analysing of security events that occur within our environment.
  • Participate in security incident response and recommend remediation actions as required.
  • Operate and configure vulnerability management and security information and event management tools.
  • Identify and analyse security threats and risks and provide direction for implementing security risk mitigation activities.
  • Champion cyber security awareness within the business.
  • Undertake root-cause analysis to ensure prevention of problem re-occurrence.
  • Present ideas and solutions that complement business requirements.
