We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Training Development Team Leader at Power Training Services, Jandakot, on a 9-month for maximum term contract.


About this role

As the Training Development Team Leader, you will be responsible for leading and coordinating a team accountable for the design, development, and maintenance of training resources required to support the operation of the Registered Training Organisation (RTO) and for the competency requirements of the Network Total Workforce. You will manage, coach, and mentor team members to ensure a high performing team that will meet the training resource requirements of Power Training Services and Western Power’s values and strategic vision.

  • Provide technical leadership and/or develop effective training resources for the competency requirements of the Network Total Workforce that enable optimisation of performance for the workforce.
  • Lead the development and upgrade of training and development solutions to ensure currency and relevance to advancing and new technology (e.g., e-learning solutions, alternate delivery methods).
  • Ensure awareness of new and innovative training solutions for Western Power’s workforce and embed within the competency and learning and development frameworks.
  • Provide technical leadership and expertise for the team in the development of accurate, professional, and contemporary based training materials to support the PTS training delivery offerings.
  • Establish / review and manage effective frameworks and processes to support effective and compliant courseware development.
  • Establish / review and manage effective frameworks and processes to support training needs relating to specific stakeholder projects.
  • Lead relevant PTS projects providing technical subject matter expertise to ensure that these are delivered on time and to the required standards.
  • Support an effective and consistent framework for e-learning across the organisation, including best practice for e-learning development and management of the e-learning platform.
  • Manage and monitor the utilisation of assigned budgets, resources and external third part providers in consideration of affordable outcomes for our customers.
  • In consultation with Training Services Leadership, identify and develop business improvement opportunities that drive and meet strategic objectives and enhance the customer experience.


About you

We are seeking someone with experience and attributes that include:

  • Bachelor or Associate Diploma in an area relevant to training design and development; or a Diploma of Training Design and Development combined with significant relevant experience and relevant industry qualifications (Desirable).
  • Certificate IV Frontline Leadership (Desirable).
  • Extensive experience developing and implementing training programs and learning solutions or similar that are aligned to business needs.
  • Experience leading multi-disciplined development teams and ensuring efficient and effective utilisation of resources – demonstrated people.
  • Experience in working within the training and development industry in the field of training development and/or delivery.
  • Experience implementing e-learning solutions and aligning training/learning activities with a broader talent management process.
  • Highly developed communication and influencing skills with demonstrated success in building and maintaining strong working relationships at all levels within an organisation.
  • Strong business acumen, analytical skills and experience working with best practice strategic frameworks and processes.
  • Interaction with others is primarily concerned with influencing, developing and motivating people and changing behaviour.
