About the opportunity
Westgold Resources are on the lookout for a Planning Engineer to join our team at Great Fingall on a permanent 8/6 roster. Reporting to the Alternate and Mine Manager, the Planning Engineer will provide technical support to the mining operations team. You will ensure targets are met; and safe and accurate plans are delivered in a timely manner utilizing industry best practice.
Production from Great Fingall is expected to commence in the first half of FY25, with the decline development having commenced in October 2023.
At steady state, Great Fingall will be a long-life, high-grade, high-margin underground mine, producing more than 45,000oz a year.
The role includes
- Completion of development designs in accordance with 13WK plans
- Completion of stope designs for production engineering use
- Mini-DAF and DAF designs
- Completion of Level Extraction Notes
- Completion of Stope Reconciliations
- Preparation of 13WK schedules where required
- Management of onsite databases (Plodtrack and Livemine)
- Assist in training with Junior Engineers
- Review Drilling and Blasting plans
- Management of underground projects where required to assist
- Completion of Vent models for short-term and medium-term planning
- Manage adhoc projects as directed by the Senior Mining Engineer and Underground Manager
- Review Geotechnical reports and ensure stope shapes adhere to site GCMP
- Highlight key activities and critical path processes of budgets , forecasts and weekly plans
What do I need?
- Bachelor of Engineering (Mining)
- Underground time completed
- 3+ years experience in underground mining operations
- Current, unrestricted West Australian C Class Driver’s License
- National Police Clearance, 12 month validity
- Proficiency in MS Office and specialist mining software (Deswik CAD, Deswik UGDB, Deswik Sched)
- Experience with Ventsim is desirable
- Proficient in technical report writing., problem solving and presenting/communicating information
- Demonstrated understanding of developing operationally ready mine designs and schedules and managing engineering workflows
- Practical production and planning experience in mechanical hard-rock underground mining
