About Blackwater Mine:
Situated 73 kms south-east of Emerald, Blackwater is the second-largest open-cut metallurgical coal mine in the Bowen Basin. This long-life operation began in 1967 and has grown to become one of the longest coal mines in the Southern Hemisphere, with a strike length of approximately 70 kms. Blackwater extracts high quality metallurgical and thermal coal for the export market using 7 draglines with associated truck/shovel prestrip and coal mining.
About the Role
We are excited to open up EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST for experienced Multi Skilled Operators to join us as at our newly acquired Blackwater site within our Mine Operations and Mine Services teams.
Multi-Skilled Operators are accountable for the safe and efficient operation of mining equipment to meet production and budget targets. You will possess a broad depth of understanding and experience in heavy earthmoving equipment and general support works.
This role will suit hardworking and proactive Mobile Plant Operators, ideally with proven previous experience in safely operating the below mobile plant equipment:
- Excavator Operators – 400t to 800t
- Dozer Operators - D10T, D11T or equivalent
- Grader Operators - 16M, 24M or equivalent
- Rear Dump Truck Operators – 930E, 830E, 793, Kress coal haulers
- Water Truck Operators – 785, 789 or equivalent
- Loader Operators – WA1200 or equivalent
What You’ll Do
- Contribute to the safe and efficient operation of mobile machinery and other plant in an open cut environment to maximise production
- Conduct routine operational and safety activities to effectively prepare for and manage operational workload
- Identify and assess risks, make risk informed decisions, using the company’s risk management framework
What You’ll Bring
- At least two (2) of the equipment competencies as listed
- A positive attitude towards safety, improvement, training & environment
- Ability to maintain a high work output level
- Ability to adhere and live the Whitehaven Values and contribute to a collaborative organisational culture.
- Open-cut production mining experience with statements of competency/VOC’s for equipment
- Ability to pass a QLD Coal Board Medical
- Trainer / assessor certification (desirable)
