Lead Engineer, Electrical, Rolling Stock Projects
About this opportunity
We are looking for an inspiring leader who is passionate about electrical project works…. Reporting to the Engineering Manager a typical week in this role might look like/this role involves:
- Managing all electrical services within the A/Z life extension project, ensuring everything is conducted to the highest level of quality and safety.
- To ensure the relevant rolling stock standards apply to new equipment installation, engineering changes/improvements, new equipment/asset procurement and other rolling stock activities.
- Facilitating the development of scopes, designs, drawings, technical documentation, testing procedures for projects
- Assisting and coordinating in-house and contract engineering resources to meet project schedule & objectives
- Guiding other engineers through development activities under the engineering management system (EMS)
- Monitoring and controlling assigned work scope against the project plan, ensuring effective change control an identifying risks / opportunity
- Directing the writing of work packages and ensure proper work instructions are in place
- Analysing the suitability of systems, processes and equipment and initiating and managing change using continuous improvement methodologies, as required
- Providing direction, decisions and strategies on planned repair works to enable life extension of ageing tram fleets
- Managing suppliers on complex electrical engineering solutions, and ensuring all new designs are deemed SFAIRP
About you
Ideally you will have:
- At least 7-year experience in Electrical/ Electronic Engineering
- At least 3 years’ experience in managing engineers delivering complex engineering solutions
- Exceptional ability to assess and design safe and cost-effective engineering solutions to complex technical problems
- Knowledge and proven experience in systems engineering and systems thinking
- Proven experience in delivering a package of work using internal and external resources
- Ability to develop a strong team and cultivate positive moral
- Ability to build loyalty and commitment and able to energise team through inclusiveness and connection with people
- Knowledge of traction systems, door control systems and other complex rolling stock systems
