About the role:
Opportunity for a Trade Compliance/export control Officer to join our team based in Rydalmere NSW. Reporting into the Operations Director, you will be a key advisor to the Digital Systems Business and program managers on trade compliance. You will be responsible for supporting and implementing trade compliance requirements across the Country Business Unit for current and prospective projects in the Digital Systems Portfolio. The particular focus of this role is on implementation of policies and procedures, and ensuring compliance with national and other international export control regimes.
You will be accountable for:
- Ensuring that all projects and business support functions strictly comply with the requirements of the Australian, U.S. (ITAR, EAR), European and all other applicable export control rules and regulations
- ensuring compliance with import and export controls
- Keeping the businesses informed regarding export control and global trade developments
- Creating and maintaining procedures and instructions to comply with all applicable laws and regulations in the area of trade compliance
- Ensuring that Project teams fully understand their access, re-export and transfer obligations under ITAR and US FMS with respect to a project and the applicable US Authorisations, e.g. TAA, MLA, Third Party Retransfer approvals under Foreign Military Sales
- Assisting with internal compliance reviews and audits; and conducting spot checks on processes and trade compliance data integrity
- Conducting ad-hoc training to relevant staff on export control and global trade matters
- Reporting non-compliance, corrective actions and impact to the Director Trade Compliance
- Providing trade compliance oversight, solutions and recommendations in facilitating import and export activities, such as guidance on tariffs, Tariff Concession Orders, Free Trade Agreements, and maintaining compliance with the Australian Trusted Trader program and other Customs obligations
How about you:
- Hold a current Australian security clearance at the requisite level or ability to obtain one.
- Experience in interpretation and implementation of government policy.
- 3-4 years of experience in international trade compliance, export controls
- Experience with Australian and U.S. export controls laws, and experience in overall compliance with facilitating import and export activities.
- Tertiary qualifications in international commerce, economics, policy or international relations will be highly regarded, as will previous experience in the Defence industry in a trade/export control compliance role
