The Project

ACCIONA has been selected to deliver Western Harbour Tunnel - Stage 2, Sydney's third harbour crossing. The new Western Harbour Tunnel (WHT) will connect to WestConnex at the Rozelle Interchange, cross underneath Sydney Harbour between Birchgrove and Waverton, and connect with the Warringah Freeway near North Sydney.


Project scope includes:

• Construction of approximately 4.8 kilometres of mainline tunnels with three lanes in each direction
• Civil, Mechanical and Electrical fitout of Stage 1 and Stage 2 tunnels
• Surface level work, including on and off ramps and tie-in work to the Warringah Freeway

In line with the above, ACCIONA are now looking for an ITS Engineer to join the Western Harbour Tunnel Project. As an ITS (Intelligent Transport System) Engineer within our design team, you will play a key role in the delivery of the ITS portion of the project. As part of the role, you will be responsible for developing the design documentation in line with the project's and TfNSW's requirements while ensuring best practices and concise cross-discipline coordination.


Specific Tasks Include

• Develop ITS design documentation following specific TfNSW and Australian Standards.
• Design and develop methodologies for integrating ITS equipment within the MNCS (Motorway Network Communication System).
• Liaise with contractors and vendors to ensure the timely and accurate installation of ITS equipment.
• Conduct testing and commissioning of ITS systems to meet performance standards and regulatory requirements.
• Provide technical support and guidance to project stakeholders, including engineers, project managers, and regulatory agencies.
• Participate in project meetings, workshops, and reviews to communicate progress, challenges, and recommendations related to ITS implementation.

Qualifications and Experience

• Relevant Tertiary Engineering Degree or similar.
• Previous experience in major infrastructure projects.
• Understanding of Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) principles, including traffic management, surveillance, and communication technologies.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving mindset.
• Knowledge of relevant regulations and standards governing ITS implementation
