The Project

ACCIONA has been selected to deliver Western Harbour Tunnel - Stage 2, Sydney's third harbour crossing. The new Western Harbour Tunnel (WHT) will connect to WestConnex at the Rozelle Interchange, cross underneath Sydney Harbour between Birchgrove and Waverton, and connect with the Warringah Freeway near North Sydney.

Project scope includes:

  • Construction of approximately 4.8 kilometres of mainline tunnels with three lanes in each direction
  • Civil, Mechanical and Electrical fitout of Stage 1 and Stage 2 tunnels
  • Surface level work, including on and off ramps and tie-in work to the Warringah Freeway


In line with the above, ACCIONA is now looking for a Site Engineer to join the Civil and Logistics Team. This role will be based out of Emu Plains on a full-time basis.


Specific Tasks Include

  • Oversee on-site construction activities to ensure compliance with design specifications and safety standards on civil engineering projects
  • Collaborate with project managers and contractors to coordinate project schedules and resolve any technical issues.
  • Conduct regular site inspections and quality control checks and maintain accurate project documentation.
  • Manage and monitor the performance of construction teams, subcontractors, and equipment.
  • Provide technical support and solutions to address unforeseen challenges during the construction process, including in relation to selection of construction materials, methods and standards.
  • Interface with Utility Service Providers including Contestable and Non-Contestable authorities.
  • Manage interface between utility and other Civil teams on the project.
  • Tracking progress & Cost, including subcontract management.


Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related field with relevant professional certifications.
  • Prior experience working on major infrastructure projects (ideally Tier 1).
  • Proven experience in on-site engineering roles, demonstrating a strong understanding of construction processes.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills in dynamic construction environments.
  • Effective communication skills to liaise with project stakeholders, teams, and regulatory authorities.
  • Ability to work from Emu Plains on a full-time basis
