The Kmart Digital Team is at the forefront of our online presence, driving innovation and ensuring a seamless online and mobile shopping experience for our customers. As a DevOps Engineer you’ll join a cross-functional team responsible for building and managing our Kmart and Target online shopping experience. At Kmart, we're not just building systems; we're empowering developers to push boundaries, explore the latest tech trends, and make a lasting impact on the retail landscape.

What you’ll be doing

  • Design, implement, and maintain infrastructure as code solutions using AWS Cloud Development Kit (CDK) and Typescript to automate provisioning, deployment, and management of AWS resources.

  • Develop and enhance CI/CD pipelines to automate build, test, and deployment processes, ensuring reliability, scalability, and security of applications and infrastructure.

  • Manage and optimize AWS services to ensure cost-efficiency, performance, and scalability.Implement monitoring and logging solutions to track system performance, troubleshoot issues, and ensure high availability and reliability of applications and services, leveraging tools like CloudWatch, ELK stack, and Prometheus.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including developers, system administrators, and cybersecurity professionals to design and implement DevOps solutions. Maintain comprehensive documentation for infrastructure configuration, processes, and procedures.

  • Provide support and guidance to team members on DevOps best practices, technologies, and methodologies. Mentor junior engineers to foster their professional growth and development in the field of DevOps engineering.


To be successful in this role you’ll have:

  • Strong experience with various AWS services such as EC2, S3, Lambda, RDS, IAM, VPC, and ECS/EKS. Demonstrated ability to architect, deploy, and manage scalable and resilient cloud-based infrastructure on AWS.

  • Hands-on experience with CDK for infrastructure as code (IaC) development using Typescript. Ability to design, implement, and maintain infrastructure components programmatically using CDK constructs.

  • Strong understanding of cloud security best practices and compliance frameworks. Experience implementing security controls for AWS resources, including network security, encryption, identity and access management (IAM), and security monitoring.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively in a cross-functional team environment. Experience working in Agile/Scrum methodologies and participating in sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives.
