A bit about your role

Based in Perth, your new role as Field Engineer would require you to represent nbn’s Field Services team for all field-based assurance activities. You will be responsible for the support, integration, augmentation, field audits, connect quality and Delivery Partner quality activities across nbn and the services connected to the network.

You will provide high level field support which may involve travel, scheduled after hours activities, and may require you to be part of an on-call roster and respond to afterhours call outs. You will be provided with a company vehicle, laptop, tools, uniform and phone (or device allowance).

The role would see you

This role involves field management and service assurance for equipment and systems, with a focus on enhancing active network construction and probing early faults. It requires providing on-site, technical support and resolving customer field technician escalations.

The successful candidate will handle end-user installations, assurance activities, and network element upgrades. Proficiency in HFC construction, network remediation, and understanding of HFC testing principles, DOCSIS 3.1, and RF fundamentals is beneficial.

As a Field Engineer, you’ll conduct HFC maintenance and restoration, including amplifier alignment and egress repairs. Adherence to SLA, OLA, and CRQ timeframes, knowledge in basic HFC design, and a background in fibre optics are essential. The role requires assuring the network from CMTS to CM.

A bit about you

The ideal candidate would have a technical background, preferably with robust network assurance expertise in one or more nbn technologies like Ethernet, DWDM, GPON, or VDSL. Experience in outside plant construction across Fibre or Copper networks would be advantageous. This technical proficiency, combined with a strong background in network assurance, would be highly beneficial for this role. Experience in outside plant construction across Fibre or Copper networks would be an added advantage.

You will be a natural problem solver with a methodological approach. Having the aptitude to learn quickly would be an advantage in this role. Given the nature of this role, you will have the ability to be flexible, adaptable and be able to cope with conflicting priorities. You will be a highly organised team player, with the ability to adapt to a changing and dynamic work environment.
