About the role:

The Asset Inspection Manager leads the strategic management and delivery of the asset inspection function as part of the maintenance program, to ensure that the requirements of our business and our customers are delivered to a level of excellence.

Leading a team, the role is instrumental in the end to end delivery of all cyclic asset inspection programs across multiple sites, whilst driving safety, consistency, productivity and continuous improvement in asset inspection operations.


What you’ll deliver:

  • Provide strategic and operational leadership to multiple field work centres at a regional level in a way that ensures exceptional results in the delivery of the asset inspection program. Ensure the program is delivered safely, efficiently and effectively, and that key performance indicators are met.
  • Support and contribute to the delivery strategy of the annual Capital works program, maximising efficiency whilst minimising cost.
  • Ensure the effective utilisation of resources to meet timeline, quality, HSS, network reliability and cost targets, working collectively in a matrix arrangement with the delivery function and services teams to achieve outcomes.
  • Support the Asset Inspection teams with all operational deliverables, people, and industrial relations matters, and act as the escalation for issues.
  • Ensure health, safety and environmental compliance meets the highest industry standards.
  • Partner with the Manager of the wider Maintenance Program in developing the short, medium and long-term strategic direction of the Network services maintenance portfolio.
  • Ensure oversight of the development and delivery of program delivery schedules, including workforce planning and resource forecasts to meet and deliver strategic targets.
  • Lead the development of strong relationships with external stakeholders i.e. unions, ESV and WorkSafe etc.
  • Identify talent and apply development plans to ensure all team members are supported and developed for future growth.

To succeed in this role you’ll have:

  • Tertiary qualification in an Engineering or Management discipline.
  • Significant experience in a leadership role including the management of a large, unionised field/construction workforce.
  • Extensive experience in leading the delivery of complex program management, maintenance or inspection programs with the ability to manage cost controls and resource planning.
  • Experience in workforce change, and planning and implementing transformation, within a large, skilled resource group, in order to meet customer requirements.
  • Working knowledge of employment law and legislation.
  • Experience in workforce and succession planning, and the implementation of best practice field leadership.
