Who are we?

Back in 2004, we were a small team working out of a garage in regional Australia. Our first business solution? Humble safety documents. But as technology reshaped how the world interacted, our founder Luke Anear was quick to pivot and meet customers where they were.

And so, iAuditor was born, the first iteration of a digital platform that revolutionized safety inspections globally. It’s now the world’s largest checklist app — and that’s just the beginning. As millions of inspections flowed into our platform one thing emerged: safety and quality share a relationship. Small but rapid changes in individual acts, repeated consistently, are transformative. For safety, for quality, for efficiency.

What started as a digital solution that allowed workers to build their own checklists has expanded into a global technology company, making it possible for people to do their best work every day in more than 190 countries around the world. 

We welcomed microlearning platform EdApp into the SafetyCulture family in 2020 with cloud-based lone worker safety app SHEQSY to follow in 2022. We also launched Mitti, an insurance joint venture with QBE.

Today, our award-winning technology includes sensors, issue reports, data capture, analytics, risk mitigation and mobile training. We power 600 million checks per year, approximately 50,000 lessons per day and millions of corrective actions. Our flagship products, iAuditor and EdApp, are used by over 60,000 customers — ranging from Coles to NASA and the United Nations.

While our roots are in Townsville, we are headquartered in Sydney with offices in Kansas City, Manchester, Amsterdam and Manila.

Our Mission

We are helping to turn some of the greatest organisations and events into better places to work. In fact, SafetyCulture technology is used by organisations ranging from the Australian Open to NASA and the United Nations. We know that our products can help prevent workplace accidents before they happen, save lives and ensure people make it home to their families at the end of the work day. 

And we do this by putting the power into frontline workers' hands. We’ve seen that in today’s world, the traditional top-down approach doesn’t work.

Organisations that are thriving proactively lean into challenges and take ownership of risks. They tend to do two things well - they build visibility across their business through real-time data capture, and they empower their frontline workers to take ownership.

We want to help solve the challenges faced in an increasingly distributed workforce, helping to give workers a voice, leaders visibility and unite teams to improve. Frontliners make up 80% of our workforce, but just 1% of annual software venture funding has historically gone into solutions serving these teams. We’re committed to addressing this underinvestment in frontline processes, enablement and technologies.

Hackathons & ShipIt

ShipIt! is our annual company offsite where we bring together all employees globally for a week to reflect on the successes of the past and our vision for the future of SafetyCulture.  

We have ShipIt! for two reasons: Firstly, to reconnect us to our mission and purpose, to ensure we all feel connected to the problem we are solving and why we are solving it. Secondly, ShipIt! is the biggest investment we make in our culture. It’s a huge investment in our people, and it allows us to build stronger relationships with other team members. 

Previous ShipIt!s have been held in Hawaii (video here), New Zealand (video here), and other places around the world. Our annual Hackathon is also hosted during ShipIt! where staff come together to formulate and solve real customer pain points.
