Our Health, Safety and Environment Management System is in place to support the health and safety of all our employees, contractors, visitors, and our community ensuring we identify and manage our emergency risks.

We work on projects ensuring everyone is supported to participate in health, safety, hygiene, and emergency-based programmes, thus allowing the execution of the Worsley Alumina strategy and ongoing prosperity for us and our stakeholders.

These roles assist Worsley Alumina to provide specialist support and advice to operation-based and functional teams on emergency response, access control, asset protection, health and safety aspects to ensure:

• Minimise the potential for significant risk of harm to personnel, the environment, the community, and the business
  

• Care for personnel affected by both workplace and significant non-workplace incidents or injuries.

These roles will be offered on a Permanent contract basis.

Location

These roles will be based at our Worsley Alumina Refinery which is a short drive from Collie (15 minutes), Bunbury (35 minutes) or our Boddington Bauxite Mine located a short drive from the community of Boddington (10 minutes), Pinjarra (50 minutes) and the City of Mandurah (1 hour).

As there is no accommodation on site, you will be required to drive in, drive out on a daily basis. Employees ideally live within an hour’s drive of the site for which they apply.

Accountabilities

Primary responsibilities are to:

• Ensure all emergency response equipment, appliances and personnel are operationally ready.
  

• Ensure all scheduled tasks, checks and inspection are completed as directed.
  

• Ensure all emergency response equipment is maintained to OEM specifications and site requirements.
  

• Ensure compliance with site specific procedures/plans and relevant legislation.
  

• Inspection, assurance and verification of fixed fire system and first response equipment.
  

• Action and report any emergency response capability deficiencies and/or non-compliance.
  

• Respond to and control emergency incidents, automatic alarms and external requests for assistance.
  

• Activate and lead the onsite emergency response team.
  

• Advise relevant stakeholders of requirements to assist in controlling emergency incidents.
  

• Liaise with external Private Sector and State emergency agencies.
  

• Provide incident updates as required to site leadership team.

About You

• Certificate III in Public Safety (Firefighting and Emergency Operations) or; Resources and Infrastructure (RII) Emergency Response and Rescue or; equivalent.
  

• Certificate IV Health Care.
  

• 3–5-years’ experience.
  

• Proficient in Emergency Response with experience in an industrial or career/volunteer government emergency service.
  

• A level of proficiency and confidence to train volunteer Emergency Response Team members in a broad range of emergency response disciplines.
  

• Strong communication, interpersonal, negotiation and facilitation skills
  

• Can successfully manage time, set priorities, plan, communicate and organise work deliverables in an emergency
  

• An internal and external customer service focus
  

• Sound understanding of emergency management processes and technologies and relevant industry standards
  

• Strong decision-making skills based on objective analysis and evaluation of emergency issues.
  

• Maintain a high level of confidentiality.
