The role

The Operator Weed Control position is responsible for the delivery of all weed spraying activities and acrolein for each system in the Bundaberg region. You will be responsible for condition monitoring of all drains, channels, storages and other Sunwater land for weed infestations and you will co-ordinate and supervise slashing contractors and other weed control contractors (example aerial spraying of balancing storages). Other key responsibilities will include:

  • Liaising with Operators and Supervisors to co-ordinate shutdowns
  • Prioritising, planning, scheduling and coordinating work and associated logistics to optimise the use of resources
  • Co-ordinating fault-finding and problem resolution in relation to equipment breakdown/malfunction, analysing and resolving operational problems, and ensuring that supply interruptions resulting from equipment breakdowns/failures are minimised
  • Ensuring all work is compliant with Sunwater's Business Management System standards, including Quality, WH&S and Environmental Management requirements
  • Support the civil team in emergency works (when required)

About you

You will be able to effectively prioritise, plan, organise and project manage the delivery of a large works program, and to effectively manage resources to achieve work objectives within an allocated budget. You will have well-developed verbal and written communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills with the ability to develop and maintain effective business relationships at all levels. In addition you will have:-

  • Commercial Operators Licence (essential)
  • Class ‘C’ licence for manual and automatic vehicles
  • HR drivers licence (highly desirable)
  • Relevant trade qualification or mechanical knowledge will be highly regarded
