We deliver a safe, cost-effective and reliable electricity supply to more than 295,000 residential, commercial and industrial customers. We facilitate the transfer of electricity between Victoria and Tasmania via Basslink, the sub-sea electricity interconnector. We also provide telecommunications and technology services.

About the role

This is an exciting opportunity to join our business at a pivotal time in the energy industry, leading the Regulated Team within Legal Services, and supporting the operational functions of the business which include major transmission projects, commercial and regulatory business units.

With significant growth in the pipeline of generation and load projects seeking connection to our network, this 12 month maternity leave role offers a fabulous opportunity to be part of supporting the energy transition in Tasmania and exposure to complex infrastructure transactions.

Reporting to the Head of Legal Services, you will be part of the Legal Services leadership team comprising a Leader of the Corporate Services team and the Leader of Unregulated support. In addition to leading your team, you will contribute to both the formulation and delivery of strategies for the broader Legal Services team and Governance Group in a way that supports the broader business’ strategic objectives.

About you

You will bring a minimum of 7 years experience in Legal services (ideally within a leadership role), holding a Practicing Certificate in any Australian State or Territory. You will show innovation and assume responsibility in making informed decisions for your area, holding strong general commercial, corporate and transactional experience, with knowledge of energy and construction law highly desirable.

You will have experience in overseeing legal operations, managing a team of legal professionals, and ensuring legal compliance across all business functions in a similar role. This is a leadership role that requires a strong legal background, exceptional communication skills, and the ability to collaborate with stakeholders at all levels.
