Engineer - Extended NOC - 24/7 Shift
We are currently looking for a skilled individual to provide technical service, solutions and support to the networks, infrastructure, products and services supplied and operated by Telstra.
This is 24/7 rotational shift role which also requires possession and maintenance of minimum NV1 security clearance and the ability to obtain NV2 level clearance.
The Role:
You will be responsible for investigating and troubleshooting any complex network problems as detected by NOC or reported by customers. You will need to ensure that the agreed SLA/KPIs are met and be the first level of technical & management escalation. You will also be responsible to review and improve any assurance processes / systems to improve the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the NOC
You must have high technical skills, combined with a very good understanding of the technologies and services running on the highly sophisticated MPLS platform, which is an integral part of the global Internet.
Key Responsibilities:
- To contribute to Key Performance Indicators in relation to the performance of the networks, infrastructure, products and services supplied and operated by Telstra
- Have the freedom to allocate daily work priorities, complete allocated work activities and routines within required targets
- Achieve end to end service restoration, activation and installation through compliance to prescribed standards, practices, procedures, Operating Level Agreements and Service Level Agreements
- Contribute to network integrity and reliability and end to end performance excellence
- Capture and record relevant cost and time information and the timely completion of tasks assigned
- Proactive monitoring and management of customer services.
Troubleshooting of faults and restoration of customer services. Ensure the service assurance process meet the Mean Time to Repair Performance Requirement.
- Proactive monitoring and management of the IP platform to maintain network performance standards.
- Provide timely updates to customer, and answer customer’s queries.
Qualifications and Responsibilities:
- Educational Qualifications - Tertiary qualifications of at least diploma in engineering field or a combination of qualifications and experience regarded as being acceptable for satisfactory performance in this position.
- Professional/Technical Qualifications - Demonstrated knowledge and experience in managing the REACH IP backbone network which is part of the global Internet. Essential JUNOS and Cisco Certification, JNCIA or CCNA. Preferred, JNCIP-ENT, JNCIP-SP or CCIP, CCNP.
- 3+ Years of Relevant Work Experience
- Good technical knowledge of the global connectivity on subsea cable, internet networks, systems and products.
- Good knowledge of relevant activation, installation, assurance and repair processes.
- Strong knowledge in IP routing, and good knowledge in OSPF, BGP and MPLS
- Experience in the operation and maintenance of routers/switches
- Good knowledge in WAN technologies such as ATM, POS, LAN-PHY, WAN-PHY etc
