The Opportunity

This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual to be part of a once in a generation transformation of the NSW power network.

As Transmission Line Asset Strategist (Senior Asset Engineer), you will be responsible for the development and implementation of the renewal and maintenance strategies and plans for Transgrid’s high voltage Transmission Lines assets to effectively balance cost, risk, performance over the entire asset lifecycle.

The Senior Asset Engineer contributes to:

  • Review of transmission line asset condition and performance and develop appropriate Transmission Line Asset Management Strategy and Plans over the entire asset lifecycle
  • Review and develop asset health index, probability of failure, and consequence modelling for transmission line assets.
  • Develop the appropriate governance documentation to identify needs, options, and justify investment for replacement or refurbishment of transmission line assets.
  • Review and provide technical oversight of technical standards for design, construction, and maintenance of transmission line assets
  • Ensuring asset commercial and technical decisions are supported by appropriate risk management strategies
  • Identify, investigate, and implement new technologies/equipment/work practice to achieve balance of cost, risk, and performance over the entire asset lifecycle
  • Develop spares requirement for transmission lines asset through policies and strategies
  • Lead/provide input into investigation of equipment failures and develops appropriate asset management strategies
  • Represents Transgrid on external committees and working groups as required.

What we expect from you

  • Degree in Electrical, Mechanical or Civil/Structural Engineering
  • Knowledge and experience in High Voltage Transmission Lines design, construction, commissioning, maintenance or asset management across the asset lifecycle.
  • Experience in the application of risk management to support asset management decision making
  • Understanding of failure modes, root cause analysis, and exposure to Reliability Centred Maintenance (RCM) principles.
  • Ability to apply both technical and economic/commercial components in the option evaluation to address transmission lines asset issues
  • Well-developed people and stakeholder management skills
  • Knowledge of legislated industry requirements
  • Excellent written communications skills for persuasive reports and submissions
  • Highly developed analytical, investigation and problem-solving skills
