The Azure Global team is looking for a strong, motivated, independent, and energetic leader to act as the Head of Industrial Security for their Australia program operations; responsible to drive complex project requirements, cross-team communication, and execution accountability across both technology and business projects within the Azure Global business portfolio.

Responsibilities

As a part of a growing team, your responsibilities and partnerships will include:

  • Leadership: You be able to drive execution of a holistic industrial security program and its respective projects across multiple project managers, teams, and organizations – partnering across multiple business groups to drive common outcomes
  • National Security Vetting: You will be responsible for driving strategy and execution for Australia security vetting at Microsoft, against the Australian Government Protective Security Policy Framework (PSPF) which includes Baseline, Negative Vetting Level 1 (NV1), Negative Vetting Level 2 (NV2), and Positive Vetting (PV)
  • Personnel: You will define a framework for delivery for appropriate security training and education to our employees; inclusive of inductions.
  • Information Security: Setting policy and providing advice and guidance on information security best practices, ensuring appropriate measures are in place, including interpreting, implementing, and monitoring compliance with defined security controls (e.g., IRAP, ISM and PSPF, etc.).
  • Counterintelligence (CI): You will be responsible for building a capability to identify, monitor, and respond to threats; partnering with both internal and external stakeholders to enhance regional risk assessment and OSINT monitoring.
  • Compliance & Reporting: You will have knowledge of the Defence, AGSVA and other Australian Government security requirements and principles, and be confident in the implementation within an agile, high growth organization; being responsible for Microsoft’s compliance and associated reporting obligations. You will be responsible for Australian compliance to relevant global certifications and standards included in the Microsoft compliance offerings.
  • Communications: You will be responsible for establishing and maintaining regular communications about the status of the program. In addition, you will be able to conduct insightful conversations with senior business and technical decision makers inside and outside Microsoft.
  • Team Collaboration: You will inspire and work with a talented and diverse group of program managers, engineers, and internal teams that rely on your teams’ services to be successful.
  • Collaboration: Great collaborator, able to work effectively across broad teams and influence stakeholders of all levels and of all disciplines across Microsoft.

Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experienced in working with the Australian Defence sector to implement and maintain security protocols at Protected and higher classifications. Experience in a Security Management role within an Australian Government National Security or other agency would be highly regarded.
  • Demonstrable experience of working closely with operations and program functions to establish pragmatic/optimum security infrastructure solutions to identified risks
  • Strong analytical skills, combined with a strategic orientation, as well as an aptitude for solving complex business problems
  • Ability to resolve ambiguity or conflict situations to bring global teams and business groups into alignment; proficient in taking complex/technical subject matter and refining/presenting to the business at any level to result in understanding and appreciation
  • Technical problem-solving and analytical skills using data analysis and escalation management in a complex environment
  • Experienced team and project manager with multiple work streams and partners; demonstrated strategic planning abilities
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills with proven ability to impact & influence key stakeholders
  • Experiences such as Defense Establishment Security Officer, IT Security Officer, Info Assurance Accreditor Spec Course, Crypto Custodian, Co-ordinating Installation Design Authority, TEMPEST Control Officer, Info Risk Manager for HMG, Data Protection Officer, 27001 Lead Implementer.

Security Clearance Requirements:

  • Nationality Verification: This position requires verification of Australian citizenship to meet government security requirements
  • Security Clearance Requirements: Candidates must be an Australian (AU) Citizen and must be willing to obtain and maintain a Positive Vetting (PV) clearance
  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter
