The Shareholder Assets team within Scottish Widows are responsible for the Investment Strategy for our £25bn Shareholder Assets portfolio and within this the management of our traded assets portfolio that is run by our external asset manager. The team plays a vital part in the development of our Bulk Annuities strategy!
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Annuity Investment Manager within this team. Working alongside, and with support from, Senior Managers you'll be responsible for monitoring the performance of the existing portfolio and supporting new investment opportunities.
The team relies on others to support our activity and so you'll work closely with other key business areas, notably colleagues across Commercial Bank, Finance and Risk.
We'll need you to have experience in an Investment, Actuarial or finance area, as is the ability to work and collaborate effectively with others.
This is a varied and wide ranging role that will provide you with an opportunity to get involved across many different aspects of the investment process for an Insurance company, enabling you to develop new skills and improve your career.
Key objectives and responsibilities include:
Researching and analysing investment opportunities
Development of data and tools to assess the suitability of new assets
Working collaboratively with other cross-functional teams to new investment transactions.
Analyse assets to be accepted as part of bulk annuity in-specie transactions
Maintaining and developing investment mandates for external managers
Develop internal MI and controls to support the effective risk management and reporting
Production of materials for committees / governance forums
Seeing opportunities for championing change, to deliver continuous improvement to systems and processes
Keep up-to-date with industry and market trends and developments and share with wider team
Key skills & personal attributes
Knowledge and experience of assets and investment practice
Ability to communicate at all levels in a professional manner, with a track record of building strong working relationships
Self-starter, with strong analytical problem-solving skills, who delivers quality solutions to new challenges
Good verbal and written communication skills. Able to present complex topics to a non-technical audience in a clear, confident and concise manner
Critical and questioning, with positive approach and demeanour
High level understanding of our Shareholder Assets and Loan Investments business
Desirable skills
Knowledge of Asset Liability Management (ALM) and Solvency II requirements related to investments.
Knowledge of derivatives
Location and ways of working
The majority of our team are based in Edinburgh therefore our preference is you're based a commutable difference from here, but we could also accommodate you being based near our London hub. We're flexible on location for the right person.
Some travel may be required however we have a flexible approach and are big advocates of agile working, so we’re pleased to consider applications from candidates wishing to work any flexible arrangement.
