We are seeking a qualified and enthusiastic chartered or experienced Senior Civil Engineers to join our unique award winning Light Rapid Transit team in the North of England.

Key elements of the role will include:

  • Developing sustainable mass rapid transit schemes and solutions for our towns and cities, seeking to connect communities and contribute towards zero carbon goals.
  • Concept and detailed design of a variety of light rapid transit schemes mainly in the UK, but with potential for support to overseas projects
  • Working collaboratively with Clients and stakeholders.
  • Preparation of calculations, designs, studies, specifications, drawings and reports
  • Working and coordinating within multi-disciplinary teams; such as highways, environment, geotechnics, architects, structures and systems engineers
  • Working and collaborating in a digital 3D environment, considering opportunities for innovation and automation
  • Opportunities to develop your engineering leadership skills, providing oversight, mentoring and support to early career professionals, including apprentices.

Essential

  • Post-graduate experience in civil engineering design. Light rail is ideal; however, experience in other areas such as environment and sustainability, transport planning, highways and/or heavy rail will also be considered. Industry leading training will be provided in light rapid transit engineering.
  • Relevant degree
  • Chartered, or working towards chartered or incorporated engineer status (for example, CEng/IEng with ICE)
  • Understanding of designers' responsibilities under CDM; and a desire to eliminate risks and design out hazards
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills, allowing you to confidently liaise with other team members and project stakeholders
  • Experience in BIM and collaborative environments

Desirable

  • Broad experience of both light rapid transit and urban highway design
  • Familiarity with Tramway Principles and Guidance (LRSSB)
  • Willingness to develop both your technical and engineering skills and learn or develop your skills in the complex and challenging discipline of light rapid transit
