Description of role:

Within TWI, the Polymer Technology Group (PCT) and Novel Polymer Technologies Section (NPT) is expanding at our Middlesbrough site and the plastic welder training business has grown in the recent years requiring growth of the delivery team.

This role is focused on delivering training courses to plastics welders in the following welding processes; hot gas, injection, extrusion, butt fusion and electrofusion, socket fusion and hot wedge welding. The post will be based in Middlesbrough to gain access to potential business in this area.

The role will involve shadowing our current plastic welder trainers as they deliver training courses both at TWI premises and at customer sites across the UK and overseas.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Delivering Plastics welder training courses to relevant standards including, but not limited to, BS EN 13067
  • Developing new business opportunities and training courses
  • Scheduling and co-ordination of the training courses
  • Quoting for training courses based on requirements of the client
  • Managing and sourcing the relevant training materials

Further responsibilities during the initial training period will also involve the undertaking of technician duties and lab work at TWI’s Middlesbrough or Cambridge sites within the NPT section as and when required.

You will also be able to liaise regularly with external contacts i.e. Environment Agency, HSE, BGS (British Geomembrane Association) and other bodies. A background of working with polymer materials and fabrication techniques is essential, with a strong mechanical background in engineering is desirable and qualified to HND or equivalent.

Candidates should also be aware of prospective of developments within this market, which will allow for successful business development supporting our growth plans. You will be expected to demonstrate strong business acumen, customer focus, flexibility and the ability to operate effectively in a team or self-managing environments. Training experience would be an advantage.

You will require UK security clearance for this role, willing to relocate to Teesside region and travel within UK or to overseas with short notice.

Travel:

This position may require regular travel both in the UK and abroad.
