Our Commercial Banking division has a rich heritage of supporting businesses and the economic prosperity of the nation. Primarily focused on UK businesses or those with strong links to the UK. Commercial Banking provides support to Corporate and Institutional clients through the provision of core banking products, such as lending, deposits and transaction banking services. Whilst also offering clients expertise in capital markets (private placements, bonds and syndicated loans), financial markets (foreign exchange, interest rate management, money market and credit) and private equity. This enables us to meet the varying and sometimes complex needs of all types of clients.

You will have primary responsibility for all coordination, underwriting and best efforts mandates in relation to Financial Institution (“FI”) loan transactions, working in close collaboration with the relevant sector teams (e.g. Banks, Financial Sponsors, Insurance etc).

In addition you will have broader responsibility for shaping, driving and embedding the medium-term distribution strategy for FI transactions as part of the broader Syndicate and Sales team strategy.

You will provide constructive challenge and support to the Head of Corporate and FI Loan Syndicate and leadership and coaching to junior members of the Corporate and FI and Syndicate and Sales teams more broadly.

Accountabilities:

  • Take a lead role in the delivery of FI Loan Syndicate objectives. Support FI sector teams in managing strategic client relationships, increasing share of mind, and driving revenue opportunities
  • In conjunction with other stakeholders, develop and deliver a distribution strategy for FI sector assets which will include identifying additional distribution channels and potentially new product opportunities
  • Proactively engage portfolio reviews and drive origination activity. Lead on client pitches to win coordination, underwriting and best efforts mandates. Support FI sector teams in executing transactions
  • Lead successful syndication/sell down of any underwritten financings. Manage the development and delivery of budget plans for FI Loan Syndicate
  • Manage relationships with the FI sector teams and other internal stakeholders including the wider Syndicate Teams, Loan Sales, LBCM, Risk and Client Products
  • Represent Lloyds on transactions and at various industry or market related events

Essential:

  • Significant experience in the syndicated loan product and in leading deal teams
  • Understanding of Fund Finance structures (e.g. subscription lines, capital call, gearing, NAV etc) and Insurance structures
  • Outstanding understanding of credit and financial analysis and their application in transaction structuring
  • Knowledge and experience of other debt financing and risk management products (e.g. bonds, USPPs, derivatives)

This role is considered Certified under the Senior Manager and Certification Regime as either requiring mandatory qualifications or being deemed as a role capable of providing ‘significant harm’ to customers. Due to this, successful candidates and will be subject to enhanced levels of vetting, and required to complete a fitness and propriety attestation on commencement in role. Colleagues performing this role will be required to be complete a fitness and propriety attestation on an annual basis and will also be subject to additional routine criminal and credit checks

If you manage certified colleagues this role will be identified as Manager of certification employees under SYSC 27.8.13R as defined in the FCA Handbook
(1) The function of managing or supervising a certification employee, directly or indirectly, is an FCA-specified significant-harm function.
(2) A function in (1) is not an FCA certification function for that firm if it is performed by an SMF manager of that firm.
