About the OPPORTUNITY
Ideally based at our Osborne Naval Shipyard Offices in Adelaide, however we would consider strong candidates from either Sydney or Melbourne. As an Assistant Export Control Practitioner, you will be responsible for understanding, applying and implementing Export Control compliance obligations across the Business. These include compliance with the Business' Export Control policies and procedures and with applicable Australian, US, and other laws and regulations.
You will be responsible for:
- Support the cross-business focus on export control matters by responding to EC Service Desk calls, determining when to seek advice on more complex issues.
- Support in the review and development of export control processes and user resources to ensure compliance is maintained across the business.
- Provide advice and approval in relation to the receipt and transfer of Controlled Material.
- Approve access to Controlled Material, maintaining Approved Team Lists in accordance with project requirements and co-ordinate with Security Officers and Systems Authorities to ensure the periodic reconciliation of access privileges with approvals.
- Support Export Control assurance and risk management activities, including investigations of potential breaches of non-compliance.
- Provide direct support to improvement activities to ensure continuous improvement.
About YOU
- Australian citizen and eligible to obtain and maintain a Defence Security Clearance (Essential).
- Working experience and knowledge of Export Control laws and regulations is highly beneficial but not essential.
- Excellent communication skills at all levels.
- Tertiary qualification in a relevant field or discipline such as law, international commerce or international relations, or equivalent relevant experience in the Defence industry, will be highly regarded.
- Ability to develop strong negotiation and influencing skills with internal and external stakeholders.
- Intermediate MS Office skills, especially in Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
