Actuary II

Our team is looking for an Actuary with a love for data driven problem solving and knowledge of risk management, insurance pricing and product development to join the EG InsurTech team. This is a highly analytical role with the opportunity to make a significant impact on Expedia's revenues and interact with senior leadership. You will have a demonstrated ability to deliver results under tight timelines and exhibit excellent business judgment along with quantitative skills.

What you will do:

  • Perform as key person on data analytics-focused projects where you will develop, evaluate, and deploy cutting-edge methods and models for travel insuranceand related fintechproducts

  • Undertake actuarial tasks such as valuation of products and liabilities and experience studies

  • Provide actuarial inputs in pricing and claims throughout product life cycle

  • Build end-to-end design of actuarial and risk management process to provide scalable InsurTech product development and pricing support

  • Understand and contribute to building exploratory data analyses and predictive ML models in Python/R

  • Collaborate and communicate effectively with our broader product team within a coding environment, while adhering to model development and maintenance best practices

Who you are:

  • Bachelor's degree (STEM field) or equivalent experience

  • Broad knowledge of pricing and risk aspects of the Actuarial field with Associate or Fellow Actuary designation (FCAS/FSA/ACAS/ASA)

  • 5+ years of Actuarial/Analytical experience

  • 2+ years of project leadership

  • Experience leveraging traditional insurance and non-traditional data sets using SQL

  • Experience conducting analyses in Excel and programming languages such as R, Python

  • Experience building and deploying statistical machine-learning models, such as linear regression, logistic regression, GLM, GAM, etc.

  • Experience interacting with senior management

  • Advanced degree in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics or other relevant courses plus 5+ years of directly relevant actuarial experience;

  • 5+ years experience working within the insurance industry / claims experience

  • Proficiency in common ML programming languages (Python, R, Spark…) and familiarity with ML algorithms

  • High level organizational and project management skills for handling multiple concurrent assignments in a timely manner

The total cash range for this position in Seattle is $112,000.00 to $156,500.00. Employees in this role have the potential to increase their pay up to $179,000.00, which is the top of the range, based on ongoing, demonstrated, and sustained performance in the role.

Starting pay for this role will vary based on multiple factors, including location, available budget, and an individual’s knowledge, skills, and experience. Pay ranges may be modified in the future.
