Division Overview

Hubbell Power Systems (HPS) engages in the design and manufacture of a wide variety of products used by utilities. Today, HPS is deeply engaged in product solutions for OSP Communication utility purposes, and has been actively growing that segment of the business. HPS roots have historically been in high voltage transmission, distribution, substation, underground products used by electric utilities. HPS products are also used in the civil construction, transportation, gas and water industries.

Position Overview

Provides architectural leadership to the Aclara organization with an emphasis on a unified technical architecture in support of our business strategies. Assesses the business environment, current technology implementation, and technology capabilities and establishes a technical roadmap for the organization.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead a diverse team to deliver high quality software application architects and develops their professional growth.
  • Provide technical thought leadership and design and document an enterprise architecture, incorporating all domains into a coordinated technical environment.
  • Responsible for furthering the architectural vision of the product via an architecture roadmap and how that vision serves the business and is realized in construction.
  • Collaborate with internal/external stakeholders to understand business goals and technical direction and translate to architectural solutions. Maintain a culture of excellence within the Aclara software organization.
  • Conduct research on emerging technologies in support of development efforts and recommend technologies that will support business strategies and targeted outcomes.
  • Influence senior leadership on architectural vision, the case for change, and the path forward with the ability to obtain agreement and funding.
  • Develop and maintain a technical architectural environment that makes best use of existing tools and positions the Company to more easily evaluate and adopt new tools and techniques.
  • Provide updates and status on the development, maintenance, and pursuit of the architecture roadmap.
  • Develops strategy with Software Development leadership, Senior Developers, Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), Product Managers and Product Owners to ensure architectural vision for the product
  • Ensure adherence of the software application architecture team to formal processes, standards, and total quality practices in all activities.
  • Ensure adherence of the software development teams to product development that is consistent with the architectural standards, vision and roadmap set forth by the architecture team.
  • Attract and interview top talent within the local and national IT markets.
  • Work with the SAFe Release Train (ART) to develop and maintain schedules for releases. Work with team to prioritize functionality for release.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in people, processes, and technology.
  • Take ownership of driving positive change.
  • Participate and invest in the local technical community, give back to the community and represent the Aclara brand.

Education, Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • Possess 10 years of experience designing technical solutions with 5 years of experience as an architect.
  • Ability to lead people and get results through others.
  • Ability to architect and engineer complex technical solutions with strong capability, performance, stability, and capacity.
  • Experience in one or more systems development life cycle methodologies, including those that support agile and DevOps based development.
  • Experience architecting /operating solutions built on Cloud Platforms.
  • Demonstrated research and development skills in evaluating new technologies for potential use in solutions.
  • Demonstrated successful ability to build positive partnerships and work collaboratively with cross-functional business and technology teams.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to interact with all levels of the organization.
