Position Overview:

Opportunities for Manufacturing interns can vary from working/shadowing Managers, learning about our product offerings, travel to project sites and more.

The Manufacturing Engineer intern position offers a variety of opportunities including basic engineering tasks related to design, analysis, test, integration and systems engineering. Opportunities can vary from working in Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, Safety, Quality and more. Interns may perform and/or participate in additional activities/events which will help them build a strong network within the Hubbell community.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Use of lean engineering tools to design and optimize manufacturing processes for the improvement of existing products and introduction of new ones
  • Assist in developing and implementing cost reduction initiatives through continuous improvement events
  • Participate in troubleshooting activities for various process issues that arise
  • Assist in production cell layout to support new product launches
  • As needed, participate in capital projects. Responsibilities include machine selection, cell layout, financial justification, working with quality & product engineering to create and update control plans and engineering requirements, installation of equipment and production startup
  • Compile project update reports and present to upper management concerning project timeline and budgets
  • Assist the progression of the Lean Improvement plan
  • Participate in Kaizen events and sustainment activities
  • Work with internal and external teams to ensure the timely delivery of high-quality products and services

Skills and Experience:

  • Student must be enrolled in an accredited university working towards a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering.
  • Minimum GPA requirement of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment

Education:

Bachelors Degree in Engineering General
