Hubbell-Wiegmann is a tier one highly automated plant designed to handle more than 5,000 stocked electrical enclosure products as well as engineered to order products.
Position Overview
The Plant Manager will lead all aspects of the operations and providing leadership to a plant of approximately 170 production and office employees. Will deploy company and factory policies and strategies to staff throughout the plant operation and translate them into business, team and personal goals.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Develops plans for efficient use of materials, machines, and employees while improving process flexibility through cross training
- Supervises production quality and ensures compliance to standards.
- Actively pursues an environment that promotes quality excellence
- Supplies relevant metrics for daily/weekly team review.
- Continuously reviews and redefines metrics to maximize group performance
- Stays abreast of Lean manufacturing principles and embraces right sized solutions for manufacturing flow.
- Enhances LEAN culture and drives continuous improvement
- Plans, develops and implements new methods and procedures designed to improve operations, minimize operating costs and effect greater utilization of labor and materials.
- Eliminates waste and develops cost reductions
- Recommends budgets and spending forecasts.
- Approves expenditures for supplies, materials, personnel, ensuring materials, labor and equipment are used efficiently to meet productivity and customer requirements
- Maintain a safe working environment consistent with all local, state, OSHA and Hubbell requirements.
- Ensure compliance with Health, Safety, and Environmental issues
- Review and analyze reports to evaluate facility performance against key indicator metrics. (Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost)
- Lead staff and workflow to maintain alignment with business goals for these key indicators
- Develop a staff and culture dedicated to the highest levels of quality and customer service
- Drive and sustain continuous improvements in all areas throughout the facility through the use techniques such as 5S, Kaizen Improvement, Standard Work, Root Cause analysis and others to identify and eliminate non valued added activities
- Ensure that employees are properly trained in their job duties, safety procedures and rules and regulations
- Effectively communicate and implement change required to meet business goals throughout all levels within the facility
- Other responsibilities include interviewing, recommendations for hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and developing employees; addressing daily challenges and resolving problems
Skills and Experience
- Bachelor Degree in Engineering / Business Management or equivalent; MBA preferred
- Minimum of 5 years' of demonstrated experience in plant or operations supervisory related roles - preferably in a manufacturing environment
- Validated understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles
- MTO/MTS experience
- Proven multifaceted, results oriented, metric driven, disciplined leadership abilities
- Familiarity with industry standard equipment and technical expertise
- Automation/Robot background is desirable
