Job Overview

The Design Engineering Associate will provide end-to-end support of high-quality custom communication systems and products to meet customer specifications. Low to moderate complexity level working under supervision of an Engineer.

A Day In The Life

Roles & Responsibilities include:

  • Support sales in proposing custom equipment and systems:

  • Evaluate customer specifications and assist with determining the appropriate solutions.

  • Determine feasibility of custom product requirements and equipment integration.

  • Assist with preliminary engineering design to determine form, fit and function of product.

  • Provide technical write-up of system solution and system architecture, based on GAI-Tronics product offerings.

  • Provide written Quotations and Proposals, inclusive of pricing, technical, and commercial content, based on customer specifications.

  • Generate a written bill of material to provide accurate parts list for custom products to be built.

  • Provide accurate diagrams of products and systems.

  • Assist engineers with problems encountered, reducing project completion time.

  • Answer customer inquiries (via collaboration applications, telephone, or email) on custom products and systems.

  • Provide IOM (Installation, Operation and Maintenance) documents for custom products or systems, supplying the customer with accurate documentation on products purchased and supporting the customer by collaboration applications, telephone, or email as required.

  • Provide technical support to internal and external customers regarding custom products or systems. Respond to requests submitted through the department Help Line tool.

  • Perform acoustical surveys using sound meters and drawings at customer's sites and develop accurate speaker layouts from the survey results.

What will help you thrive in this role?

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or electrical engineering technology
  • Associates degree in electrical engineering or electrical engineering technology with three to five years related experience
  • Five to ten years related work experience
  • 1-3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, etc.) required.
  • Previous experience with AutoCAD strongly preferred.
