Western Regional Sales Manager
Job Overview
We are hiring a Western Regional Sales Manager to our winning team!
The primary purpose of this position is to generate sales for HGCA products to both established and new distribution channels in the plumbing and propane markets. HGCA’s strategy requires that the salesperson work with their customers / prospects closely to understand both sides of the business. Seeking candidates located in the following areas: Chicago, IL, Denver, CO, and Phoenix, AZ.
A Day In The Life
- Focus on your monthly goal and exceed it.
- Plan your work – work your plan. Allocate your time and efforts to the areas within your territory that will contribute the most to exceeding your goals.
- Review list of targeted distributors to insure that communication, evaluation and progress is being made with each one.
- Meet quarterly with your distributors. Update them on their purchases vs. prior year and plan. Communicate activities in the market and new product/ programs introduced by HGUS.
- Maintain the condition of our inventory and understand the distributors business and procedures to build a relationship that is based on mutual trust.
- Maintain an active “book” on the competition within your region. Understand the facts, features and benefits of their product. Understand how they go to market and their pricing strategies and trends.
- On an as needed basis be involved in credit issues.
- Recognize your weakness and work to improve or minimize their impact. The company commits to being very supportive to its sales team; however, the ultimate responsibility to grow and improve is yours.
- Recognize your strengths and work to maximize your contribution. Stay on the radar screen and communicate your value.
Weekly / Daily Roles and Responsibilities:
- Establish weekly goals. Communicate those goals to your manager and exceed your goals.
- Communicate to your Manager a minimum of once a day. Check your voice mail on a regular basis.
- Be responsive. Many requests will come your way. Your time is yours and is to be guarded, but in all cases communicate what you will and will not be able to do.
- Work/Communicate with inside sales regarding follow up, pricing and promotional programs.
- Be accessible to your customers. Take their calls. Minimize their need to go to voicemail. Respond to their requests quickly and professionally. Push the company to respond as needed.
- Increase sales at a rate that is equal to or greater than company performance and plans.
- Become technically proficient in all aspects of your job. This includes an understanding of the performance of our line, gas installation procedures & techniques as well as codes & standard requirements.
- Work with the Manager to formulate annual region plan & goals. This includes identifying key opportunities in the plumbing and propane markets. Have an understanding of the 80/20 rule in your territory and control the allocation of your time accordingly.
- Work with Manager to prepare and execute a targeted number of distributors in your territory.
- Understand territory dynamics and have a proactive approach to new sales dollars.

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor Degree in Business Management or related field with 5+ years experience managing a sales team in a large multi-state territory
- Ability to travel up to 50% of the time
- Strong interpersonal skills, seasoned judgment and a strong sales background
- Proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Understand and support the goals of the company as they relate to your region. This includes product promotions, sales programs, product mix strategies and new products.
