Job Overview

The Hardware Engineer provides technical excellence in developing Printed Circuit Board Assemblies (PCBA) for high volume electronic products associated with the Automated Metering Infrastructure (AMI) industry. Contribute to the development of documentation and PCBA deliverables from concept to production launch. Participate in product deployment and provide support in resolving customer technical support issues. Function as technical expert when required.

A Day In The Life

  • Develop electrical functional specifications and requirements for new products
  • Develop electrical design, test and documentation for microcontroller-based products
  • Develop unit and integration test methods to ensure system meets requirements
  • Ensure designs exceed requirements of governing agencies (e.g., FCC, FM, U/L, ANSI)
  • Participate in verification testing required to allow listing with these agencies
  • Participate in development and maintenance of PCBA processes
  • Help establish and follow proper design processes for high reliability PCBAs
  • Ability to perform root cause analysis and determine effective preventive action(s)
  • Support the work of other engineers on project teams
  • Contributor in technical and peer reviews of colleagues’ deliverables

What will help you thrive in this role?

  • Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline
  • Experience in analysis, design, and testing of PCBAs for embedded and electrical systems
  • Experience with schematic capture and simulation tools
  • Strong understanding of hardware interfaces and I/O (SPI, UART, A/D D/A, I2C, etc.)
  • Experience in the generation of Gerbers and Data packages for PCBA suppliers
  • Ability to execute "board bring-up" by using advanced debugging and troubleshooting techniques
  • Working knowledge of configuration management and defect tracking systems
  • Competent user of Visio or other flowcharting tools
  • Ability to work independently and at the direction of others
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to function in collaborative environment
