As an Occupational Health Nurse, you will directly manage Workers’ Compensation cases as well as assist the EH&S Director to ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal environmental and safety regulations, ensure the health and safety of all employees, visitors, and contractors for our facilities.
A Day In The Life
- Developing and implementing health and safety programs
- Developing disease prevention programs such as smoking cessation, exercise, and healthy eating programs
- Documenting all employee injuries and illnesses within the workplace
- Observing and assessing the work environment for potential dangers and hazards
- Treating injuries and illnesses for employees, including follow-ups and referrals
- Assisting with emergency and disaster preparedness programs and planning
- Serving as a gatekeeper for healthcare services, including rehabilitation and disability matters
- Counseling employees on physical and mental health issues and guiding them toward community resources and/or employee assistance programs
- Monitoring the health status of employees
- Conducting research on the effects of hazardous work conditions or workplace exposures, which may include gathering data and reporting findings to the employer
- Administer on site drug screening
- Manage day-to-day hazardous waste activities
- Ensure compliance with all Local, State and Federal regulatory agencies
- Promote and support annual on-site Bio-metric screening
- All other duties assigned
What will help you thrive in this role?
- Active state nursing license as registered nurse.
- Bachelor’s degree and certification in occupational health nursing or case management preferred.
- Basic understanding of federal and state regulations applicable to occupational health and safety.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to effectively deal with people
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook) and other related computer programs
- Excellent organizational skills and keen attention to detail
- Ability to work with documents and information which are confidential in nature
- Desire to learn new things
- Positive attitude and easily approachable
