Job Overview

The Energy business unit in Fuquay-Varina, North Carolina is seeking a Manufacturing/Industrial Engineer to develop improved manufacturing methods by reviewing process flow, production schedules, engineering specifications and standards. The primary focus will be on the improvement of existing packaging and distribution processes through the application of LEAN manufacturing, six sigma tools and process/system optimization.

  • Champion process, procedure, and equipment improvement through manufacturing LEAN activities to effect improvements in safety, throughput, yield, quality and cost
  • Actively identify and eliminate waste from the Warehousing, Distribution and Kitting areas to improve flow and efficiency in the production process.
  • Facilitate Kaizens to realize major cost savings in conversion and material cost.
  • Perform engineering evaluations including time studies to determine how to manufacture products with the greatest efficiency
  • Identify and lead Six Sigma Projects throughout the plant
  • Work closely with the localization team to help facilitate the smooth transition of new processes/product into the production factory
  • Work with other disciplines within the plant to develop accurate specifications and documentation to support new product introduction with focus toward manufacturability
  • Initiate justifications for capital expenditures
  • Generate and maintain the integrity of process documentation
  • Project manage large and small capital projects efficiently to complete on time and within budget
  • Expected to spend up to 75% of time on the manufacturing floor supporting production

What your background should look like:

  • Bachelors degree OR 3 years relevant experience in lieu of degree required.
  • 5-7 years of experience in a manufacturing environment supporting production and new product introductions. LEAN experience and leadership is a must.
  • Proven track record in the application and use of LEAN/Six Sigma tools to effect improvements focused on efficiency and productivity in manufacturing processes
  • Demonstrated Project Management skills to execute cost reduction projects on time and within budget
  • Individual should be a self-starter with the ability to work in a fast change, high paced environment
  • Proven critical thinking and problem solving skills
  • Good written, oral and presentation skills
  • Experience with ERP system set up and use is a plus (SAP and/or MFGPRO)
  • Six Sigma Black Belt Certification ( CSSBB) a plus
