Job Overview

TE Connectivity’s IT Software and Systems Administration Teams support mainframe, Unix, Linux, and Windows based servers. This includes installation, configuration, ongoing maintenance and backup/recovery of physical and virtual servers. They monitor servers for performance and availability, and works with customers and vendors to troubleshoot hardware and software issues. TE’s IT Software and Systems Administration Teams analyze application requirements and recommend appropriate hardware configuration to meet requirements, install, configure, upgrade, monitor, troubleshoot technical systems software such as middleware, portal, e-mail, collaboration, unified communications, systems monitoring, trouble ticketing, software distribution, etc. They also evaluate new products, upgrade features and recommend toolset selection.

Typical Duties

• Providing day-to-day operational support of all backup systems by providing technical assistance.
• First/Second Level support as well as analyzes business requirements and recommends appropriate system configuration and setup to meet requirements.
• Installing and upgrading backup systems and features using available toolsets, automation, reporting and assisting in recommending resolutions system issues.
• Collaborating with various technical teams to resolve issues and request, as well as translating complex technical issues into standard terms to provide executive updates.
• Implementing best practices and the organization's technical standards using toolsets and automation to minimize inconsistencies in configuration within the backup systems.

What your background should look like:

• Deep knowledge of ITSM Management Functions including; incident, change, fulfilment, problem, and capacity.
• Deep knowledge of Commvault Backup Systems.
• Understanding of Tape Libraries (Quantum)and tape rotation.
• Understanding of disk-based data protection (NetApp).
• Understanding of IntelliSnap, Backup copy, dash copy.
• Requires deep knowledge of own area of functional responsibility/accountability.
• Determines best course of action to meet schedules and resolve problems.
• Decisions impact work unit operations.
