Job Overview

TE Connectivity’s R&D/Product Development Engineering Teams conceive original ideas for new products, introduce them into practice. They are responsible for product development, and qualification from market definition through production and release; assist in the qualification of suppliers for new products to ensure suppliers deliver quality parts, materials, and services for new or improved manufacturing processes; conduct feasibility studies, essaying on new and modified designs; direct and support detailed design, essaying, prototype fabrication and manufacturing ramp.

The R&D/Product Development Engineering Teams provide all required product documentation including, but not limited to, Digital Model, Performance Simulation, 2D/3D production drawings, product specifications, and essaying requirements.
They create and modify detailed drawings and drafting or conceptual models from layouts, rough sketches or notes and contribute to design modifications to facilitate manufacturing operation or quality of product.
Typical fields of expertise include materials, mechanics and systems, electrical, optics, chemistry, software, automation systems, packaging, essaying and measurement, and manufacturing of electrical, mechanical and electronic components, products, and their integration into systems.

What you will be doing…
As a system architecture leader in our Appliance Business Unit, this individual will be focused on leading a team of system architects focusing on the appliances industry and will interface with customers globally to understand how their systems function, modularization level and find their evolving technology needs.

The System Architect leader is responsible for leading a team and strategy that will generate high-level system architecture requirements and together with cross functional teams help ensuring the TE Appliance technology and product roadmaps are in line with appliance customer next generation products as well as short-term and long-term appliance technology and market trends.
The System Architect leader will assess and weigh primary drivers of TE product/technology gap, anticipate the best solution to address the gap.

The System Architect leader will also participate and drive TE strategy at standards, influence industry trends and standards to align with TE strategy.

Short Description

This results-focused individual would have existing connections within the customer and supplier communities and be able to work across disciplines and other functions to leverage existing technology and recognize and exploit performance gaps to create new business opportunities. Key cross-functional interfaces include Product Management, Business Development, Marketing, Strategy, Operations, and Sales.
Appliance system design experiences and awareness across multiple disciplines including cable harness, wire-to-wire, wire-to-board connections, etc. Understand appliance customer pain points, decision-making factors, and requirements. Capabilities to translate such knowledge into product requirements.
Extended experience in program leadership/team development, skilled in building a talent pipeline. Additional roles include interface to customers, development of technology roadmaps, mentoring, and deployment/improvement of quality in design processes.

What your background should look like:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering. Having a dual bachelor’s degree in business or MBA is a plus.
  • 10+ years in engineering and new product development in mechanical or electronics design
  • 5+ years’ experience in domestic appliance and/or component supplier industry system design and related technologies
  • In-depth knowledge of system architecture of Appliances such as (washing machines, wash-dryer, dryer, dishwashers, dryers, refrigerator, freezer, cooking ranges, hobs, ovens, range hoods, blast chillers/steam oven, microwave ovens.
  • Technical knowledge sensor application such as turbidity, acceleration, flow rate detection will be a plus
  • Familiarity with market trends such as “connected” and/ or “Smart” Home, advanced production processes “IoT / Cobots)” and appliance standardization requirements such as UL 2157, 2158, 749, CQC, IEC 60335-1 /2-7 /2-5 to meet safety regulations in all regions globally.
  • The geographically dispersed group requires that the candidate be self-motivating with the ability to take the initiative to accomplish tasks with limited direction
  • Ability to clearly communicate technical concepts to diverse audiences
  • Effectively able to build relationships with external customers and industry leaders as well as internally across all levels, disciplines, and geographies
  • Ability to spend 10%-20% of your time traveling

COMPENSATION

  • Competitive base salary commensurate with experience: $147,440
$221,160 (subject to change dependent on physical location)
  • Posted salary ranges are made in good faith. TE Connectivity reserves the right to adjust ranges depending on the experience/qualification of the selected candidate as well as internal and external equity.
  • Total Compensation = Base Salary + Incentive(s) + Benefits
