Scope

The Transportation Solutions segment is a leader in connectivity and sensor technologies. The primary products sold by the Transportation Solutions segment include terminals and connector systems and components, sensors, relays, antennas, and tooling. The Transportation Solutions segment’s products, which must withstand harsh conditions, are used in the Automotive, Industrial & Commercial Transportation, Sensors, and Application Tooling markets.

The Director, Operational Excellence will report directly to the TS Segment VP Global Operations and will be a member of the TS Segment Operations leadership team. This role is the key interface with the TS business unit operations teams and the segment leadership for performance reporting and goal development. The Director, Operational Excellence is also the lead in leveraging kaizen events, best practices, etc. across the segment for maximum effectiveness and sustainable conversion and material cost reduction, among other performance indicators. In this capacity, the ideal candidate will interact with all operations and functional leaders, plant managers, and others for maximum effectiveness.

Responsibilities

The role is directly responsible for the global TS Operations management operating system (MOS) and supporting the development and coordination of the TS Operations 5 year and annual operating plan process, aligned with our four TS business units. The ideal candidate will build and deploy transformational strategies and initiatives which include:

  • Execution of the TS Operations MOS. Includes reporting systems, metric development and refinement, to continually drive improvement in operational and financial performance
  • Develop a framework of leading and lagging indicators for key performance areas
  • Drive cultural change, accountability and continuous improvement mindset throughout the organization
  • Development of a process/system to identify best practices across the plant network and their wider implementation and adoption, including kaizen events
  • Champion scrap and other non-quality cost reduction strategy, identify and prioritize opportunities globally and drive their execution in collaboration with businesses, plants and other functions
  • Drive a continuous improvement culture through collaboration and communication utilizing best practices, knowledge sharing, as well as internal and external benchmarking
  • Be a liaison from the segment to deep dive on specific problems inside the BUs. Apply technical/data driven analyses, problem solve solutions and implement them while managing multiple shareholders
  • Collaborate with other operations and supply chain leaders across the enterprise to exchange best practices
  • Promote a culture that reflects company’s values, encourages outstanding performance, and promotes positive work environment
  • Nurture technology and digitization - leveraging systems and platforms to enhance the flow of information and supply while improving operational performance

Qualifications

  • Passionate, resilient leader with experience successfully leading change and working with ambiguity
  • Proactive and influential collaborator with demonstrated strength working across cultures and functions to deliver results at pace
  • High level of proficiency in supply chain transformation and extensive knowledge of supply chain design, processes, and techniques
  • Executive leadership, communication, and presentation ability in a large, complex global organization
  • Plant management experience preferred
  • Proven strategic and critical thinker/business acumen
  • Continuous improvement background - knowledge of Six Sigma and lean concepts
  • Working knowledge of P&L, cost saving strategies
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines while maintaining data integrity and accuracy
  • Excellent interpersonal and consulting skills
  • 15+ years operations/supply chain leadership experience preferably in a technology environment/industry
  • Bachelor of Science in Business, Engineering, or related field
  • Master’s Degree preferred

COMPENSATION
