About us

Alberts is a trusted and respected fifth-generation Australian family business with a long history of backing pioneers to create a vibrant and sustainable future for all.
For 140 years, Alberts has made a valuable contribution to Australia’s cultural fabric, deeply intertwined with the arts, music, and entertainment. Led by the fifth generation, Alberts remains grounded in values that have stood the test of time and continues to create positive change through its emphasis on impact investing and championing pioneers.
Drawing from a diverse range of activities including impact investing, philanthropy, advocacy, and collaboration, the family business integrates four impact themes – equality, healthy minds, sustainable environment, and vibrant culture – across its operations, and supports pioneers solving pressing problems in these areas.
We champion Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) as a core strategic pillar, believing that greater diversity drives economic growth, successful business outcomes, and a fairer society. We are particularly focused on embedding and promoting gender equality and diversity within our organisation and beyond.
Founded in 1885, Alberts has played a pivotal role in shaping Australia’s media and popular culture landscape, from the early days of music publishing, through to the birth of commercial radio, television, and the country’s pop and rock music industry. Guided by an entrepreneurial spirit, Alberts has backed trailblazing artists including AC/DC, the Easybeats and Baz Luhrmann, and has never been afraid to support technological and social change.
Alberts is a B Corp and is Climate Active certified for carbon neutrality.
How Alberts supports DEI:
- The fifth generation of Alberts is proud to have a majority of female directors. Until her recent appointment as Governor-General, Sam Mostyn AC was the first woman and non-family board chair of Albert Group Services. We are currently recruiting a female chair.
- In 2023, we introduced a new parental leave policy: 16 weeks paid leave for either parent, superannuation paid for up to 12 months of leave, and leave for adoption, miscarriage, and IVF.
- Our first employee engagement survey through Culture Amp scored an 89% employee net promoter score, highlighting our positive working culture and values, as well as support for employee wellbeing.
- Alberts co-founded the Equity Clear initiative with Scale Investors and Giant Leap to close the gender gap in venture capital. Through Alberts Impact Ventures (AIV), Alberts is one of 65 VC firms and family offices committed to disclosing the gender make-up of their start-up investments.
- We are developing a Reconciliation Action Plan for Alberts.
- Through The Tony Foundation, we support organisations working to improve the lives of young people through music, including First Nations Youth and youth experiencing disadvantage.
