Purpose of the Role:
- Design, analyse, develop, test, configuration control and demonstrate engineering rollingstock solutions that solve the requirements. Provide cost and schedule estimates on engineering programs. Provide technical expertise in support of other departments.
- The Train Control Engineer applies the principles of system engineering to the sub system architecture, interfaces, integration and design and to the selection of major components, nominally Train Control and Management Systems (TCMS), event recorders, CCTV, Passenger information Systems, propulsion and axillary systems.
- He/She performs design assignments requiring initiative, resourcefulness and design experience and provides advice and guidance to other engineers or designers.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Manages the functional and technical interface between Vehicle Engineering and TCMS Engineering according to the vehicle engineering process and provides a single point of contact in expertise for all functional and technical topics of a subsystem, working in the multidisciplinary project team.
- Develops and reviews technical specifications, estimates costs and schedules, plans his/her own work and participates on an engineering design team and manages the technical delivery and compliance of sub-systems suppliers’ deliveries.
- To analyse and transform specified requirements, leveraging the defined platform and available components into an acceptable architecture which has the required safety integrity level and validates the architecture against requirements and assumptions
- To carry out requirements engineering and controlling change and communicating to relevant stakeholders. The requirements manager specifies and maintains the requirements in a structured and timely manner to ensure the delivery of time.
- Examine and judge whether the output of a specific development phase fulfils respective requirements, mostly document reviews. The verifier ensures proper documentation and configuration control during all project phases.
- Assemble software and/or hardware items through all levels up to form a complete subsystem (e.g. TCMS Platform Architecture or TCMS user application software), according to the architectural and design specifications.
Key Requirements:
- BSc Electrical Engineering or Computer Science degree, MA or PhD graduate.
- Electrical systems engineering
- Rollingstock experience desirable.
