Bendigo and Adelaide Bank

About

Our vision is to be Australia’s bank of choice. We strive for lasting success and commit to take the time to better understand our customers, partners and their communities to find ways to solve their problems, in a way that helps create value. Our purpose is to feed into the prosperity of our customers and their communities, not off it. As a company we value teamwork, encourage diversity and respect the contribution of each individual. We build a culture of trust and are open, honest and fair. We listen, understand – then deliver. We build our success through the success of others. We all lead by example. We show initiative, are accountable and empower others. We believe in the importance of what we do and are proud of our enviable reputation as a bank.

Working at Bendigo and Adelaide Bank

You won't (always) be 9-5, suit and tie. Our approach to working is a shared benefit between you, our business, and our customers. You can be you, here, right down to what you choose to wear based on what's appropriate for your day. We believe everyone in our workforce, at every life stage in their career, should be able to do their best work as part of our bank. We're making it easier for our people to contribute to our workplace community by improving policies, practices and systems that support diversity and inclusion.

Flexibility

Flexibility means different things for different people and different work types. Options for you could include flexible hours, flexible days, an alternate workplace, workplace adjustments, a job share arrangement, a compressed work week or extra time away from work through purchasing additional leave.

Your wellbeing

Your wellbeing is important to us. You need to be well to do well. This is why we offer a range of initiatives to support you.

Employee Assistance Program (EAP)

We offer professional and confidential counselling for personal and work related matters. This service also extends to your immediate family members.

Support and development programs

Our wellbeing portal is a one-stop shop for tools, information and resources to support your general wellbeing. The bank's resilience development and support program 'equip' is available to all our employees, in addition to our take on a corporate university 'BEN U'.

Cultural diversity

We recognise and embrace the myriad cultural, ethnic, religious and national backgrounds and identities that make our workforce and our community rich in diversity. We're vested in breaking down language and cultural barriers to make sure everyone feels they belong, no matter how they look, where they come from, or what they believe in.

Gender equality

We believe in providing equal career opportunities for everyone, regardless of gender. That's why we're investing to help women across our workforce reach their potential – underpinned by improved reporting, governance and awareness to drive positive change. Our internal annual Women in Leadership Program recognises and elevates potential leaders, ensuring our current and future workforce is set up for success.

Indigenous inclusion

We acknowledge the traditional owners of this land, their ancestors and elders, past and present. We celebrate and appreciate the culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds in our indigenous workforce and are committed to providing work opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. Bendigo & Adelaide Bank became a proud partner of the Jawun Program in 2016.

LGBTIQ+

We're proud to welcome everyone to our bank, and we're dedicated to creating an inclusive, safe space for all our customers and employees. If you identify as transgender or gender diverse and wish to speak to someone about your application with Bendigo and Adelaide Bank, please email Catherine Johnson at catherine.johnson@bendigoadelaide.com.au

Accessibility

We encourage applications from people with disabilities, and that's why we're creating a safe, inclusive and empowering environment where everyone can thrive. Our Access and Inclusion Plan (AIP) (PDF 5.76MB) was developed in partnership with the Australian Network on Disability, and outlines how we focus on our customers, our people and our workplace to raise awareness, influence strategy and deliver change.

"A diverse and inclusive workplace means each individual can bring the best of themselves to everything they do. Rather than expending energy trying to fit in or hide perceived weaknesses, everyone has the opportunity to leverage their strengths for the collaborative good of the team."
