EDL are seeking a suitably qualified Senior Process Engineer to lead the technical aspect of a variety of exciting new energy projects. Working closely with Major Projects, Business Development and Engineering, you'll play a critical role in liaising with internal and external customers to deliver and support project development works within agreed timelines and budget requirements. This position can be based out of either or Perth or Brisbane offices and has the ability to work from home 2 days per week.

Key Areas of Responsibility:

  • Working with Major Projects, Business Development and Engineering, you will be responsible for process engineering and project engineering activities associated with the development of project opportunities during the development phase of the project (e.g. tender, concept, pre-FID).
  • Lead the technical effort on the project and ensure smooth and efficient communication between in-house engineering teams, consultants, contractor design teams and equipment suppliers.
  • Lead the technical effort to scope the project, define battery limits, perform preliminary process design calculations (high level energy balances, preliminary pressure drop calculations, preliminary sizing of key equipment items etc) and develop conceptual design level P&ID drawings, provide input into preliminary site layout and key package general arrangement drawings etc.
  • Lead the technical effort to develop tender packages for issue to contractors.
  • Customer facing role requiring interaction with customer technical stakeholders on all process related engineering matters.
  • Liaise, influence and engage with key stakeholders to enable Customer expectations while meeting EDL requirements.
  • Support Project Manager in delivery of project business case, execution plans, resource requirements, budget and schedule.
  • Actively ensure own health and safety and the health and safety of others through understanding and implementing workplace health and safety obligations.
  • Responsible for reviewing and endorsing technical concept scopes and business cases to support major projects.
  • Identify improvement opportunities and developing and implementing efficient processes to ensure effective and quality delivery of work.




Person Specification:

  • Strong communication, relationship building and stakeholder management skills.
  • Have a 'can-do' attitude, be flexible and be able to juggle multiple competing priorities.
  • Strong process and project engineering capabilities with respect to development of concept designs, scope of works and ability to perform critical reviews of external consultant and supplier design deliverables. Ability to tailor level of detail and approach taken based on project pricing and available timeframe requirements.
  • Ability to perform preliminary process design calculations and develop concept design solutions with limited support and without direct supervision.
  • Hold a strong focus on safety in design and quality assurance.
  • Experience in providing customer service, service delivery and conflict resolution.
  • Leadership and proactive engagement in health, safety and environmental requirements.
  • Proficient in managing potential safety implications of engineering decisions and extensive use of risk management practices to reduce risks to ALARP.
  • Ability to resolve problems with analytical thinking.
  • Computer literacy using MS Word, MS Excel, DWSim and PDF mark up software packages. Familiarity with performing pressure drop calculations in excel and/or pressure drop software packages considered advantages.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail with the ability for thorough and critical review.
  • Some travel may be required.


Qualifications and Experience:

Essential:

  • Formal engineering qualifications at engineering degree level in process or chemical engineering with a minimum of 7 years experience following graduation.
  • Member of the Institution of Engineers, Australia, CPEng.
  • Member of the Board of Professional Engineers Queensland, RPEQ.
  • Previous experience in project delivery and ideally encompassing upfront project development phase works developing concept design solutions and undertaking process design calculations.


Desirable:

  • Previous experience in a similar role delivering power / energy industry projects for a consultancy firm or contracting company where have had client facing exposure experience.
  • General knowledge of power station design and commissioning.
  • Experience with hybrid power stations (thermal, solar, BESS, Wind) highly regarded but not essential.
  • Experience with hydrogen, renewable natural gas and biogas production, transportation and distribution also highly regarded.
