The Opportunity

Ready to make an immediate impact? Reporting to the Digital Manager – Data Engineering, the Senior Data Engineer is responsible for ensuring Sigma’s Data Engineering platform and products aligns to global best practice in terms of engineering and operations.

You will oversee the implementation of the endorsed architecture and championing the modelling, design, development, and implementation of efficient and cost-effective data engineering solutions running on the cloud environment.

Key Responsibilities include:

• Hands-on data modelling and engineering pipelines development with a combination of acquiring, preparing, and transforming against various volumes of batch datasets
• Assist in identifying and exposing technical debt and related issues for resolution
• Working closely with Tech Leads to implement high quality data engineering solutions
• Troubleshooting production issues and coordinating bug fixes
• Quality check and peer review of data models, engineering pipelines and implement remediation activities

We are looking for:

• A tertiary qualification in Information technology, data, analytics, computing, or other related discipline.
• Demonstrated experience designing, building, and supporting data engineering solutions, ideally with experience across Microsoft Azure and Snowflake
• Demonstrated ability in simple to complex Snowflake SQL coding.
• Experience in one or more of the programming or scripting languages - Python, Scala, GoLang, JavaScript
• Experience in working with both structured and semi-structured datasets like JSON, XML
