About the role

This is a permanent full-time opportunity located in Brisbane CBD.

The Government Relations and Media Specialist is responsible for establishing and maintaining productive government relationships within the context of a government-owned corporation, ensuring that the business understands evolving shareholder expectations and perceptions whilst facilitating accurate and timely advice to government on strategically significant issues.

The incumbent supports the implementation of Stanwell’s marketing and communication strategies by contributing high-level media relations expertise to support the Corporate Affairs team.

Key activities include:

  • Advise the Chief Executive Officer and business leaders on strategic and tactical engagement with shareholding Ministers, offices, and departments.
  • Maintain strong working relationships with shareholding Ministers’ office through proactive engagement and providing advice on emerging issues.
  • Facilitate the exchange of information between Stanwell and the Queensland Government, on both a reactive and proactive basis, on a diverse range of subjects, including energy-related policy matters, capital projects, organisational performance and major organisational initiatives and issues.
  • Design and execute high-calibre media and communications activities including press releases, media briefings, talking points and liaison with shareholding ministerial offices and departments.

About you

  • Extensive experience government relations, corporate communications, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of state government sector in Queensland.
  • Demonstrated experience in producing high quality and professionally executed media and communication activities.
  • Established ability to develop productive relationships with key stakeholders in a complex, high-profile environment.
  • Ability to influence high level decision makers through highly developed communication and presentation skills.
