Success in the Role: What are the performance outcomes over the first 6-12 months you will work toward completing?

Within your first 6 months:

  • You will be expected to become competent with VMware's Security portfolio, use-cases and value proposition
  • You will support pre-sale and manage post-sale efforts with the Account Executives assigned to a specific targeted region
  • You will need to orchestrate territory coverage through effective collaboration of internal teams/specialists
  • Develop and deliver onsite and remote product and solution presentations and demonstrations
  • Identify additional business development opportunities within the customer’s organization and ensure these opportunities are effectively covered and followed by the sales team

Within your first 12 months:

  • Analyse and understand customer cyber-security requirements and strategies
  • Position VMware Security as the ideal solution to their cyber-security requirements and help them execute their strategies
  • Led and co-ordinate responses to RFI/Q/P from a technical perspective for the customer
  • You will develop scenario-based solution demonstrations based on real-world examples
  • Create new whiteboard presentations and content with a focus on storytelling
  • Assist in the development of product and solution slides for potential customers

The Work: What type of work will you be doing? What assignments, requirements, or skills will you be performing on a regular basis?

Talking and presenting to customers and prospective customers at the C-level, Director, Management, Engineering or Developer level with confidence.

Travel up to 50% of the time, meeting with and presenting to current and prospective customers and for internal and customer events/meetings.

Your strong customer-facing and relationship-building skills, coupled with your listening, problem-solving, and solution selling skills help you see the “big picture” and develop innovative solutions to help your customer achieve their goals using VMware Security solutions.

Assist customers and prospects with solution deployment and integration to their existing solutions when evaluating VMware Security solutions.

Customise or create scripts that leverage VMware’s open RESTful APIs to solve specific challenges or demonstrate the power of VMware’s open platform.

Create or enhance custom demonstrations that highlight how VMware’s Security solutions are uniquely qualified to solve a customer’s challenges.

Demonstrate how to use VMware’s Security solutions for incident response, threat hunting and workload and endpoint security.

Articulate how VMware is uniquely positioned to help customers protect their multi-cloud infrastructure.

Accurately monitor and report on customer and prospective customer evaluations on a weekly, monthly, or quarterly basis via Salesforce.com.

Continue to build knowledge in cyber-security challenges and solutions using VMware provided access to training, attending and participating in industry events and self-paced study.

What is the leadership like for this role? What is the structure and culture of the team like?

This position reports to the Manager of the Solution Engineering Team, an experienced professional who joined Carbon Black almost 6 years ago and has been part of the VMware family since the acquisition. Your Manager is there to support you while you get up to speed and become a valuable member of the Security Business Unit, as well as guide you through your career at VMware and beyond. The team consists of highly competent senior engineers in Australia and New Zealand who work collaboratively across VMware to deliver successful outcomes for VMware and its Customers. This role covers enterprise, health care, critical infrastructure and government organisations in Victoria, Tasmania, Canberra & New Zealand.

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys solving problems, helping customers achieve their goals and putting their mark on a team and company.

Where is this role located?
Flexible: The role is considered flexible and will be a mix of working from the VMware Melbourne office and remote depending on your preferences and the arrangements determined with your future manager. You will be expected to live within a reasonable non-daily commute of the VMware Melbourne office in Southbank.
