INDUSTRIAL RELATIONS ADVISOR

Based in Brisbane, Sydney or Perth and reporting into the IR Manager, the IR Advisor is responsible for working collaboratively across the stakeholder groups, you will ensure IR compliance for the businesses employees.

  • Providing advice to employees and the company on the effective management of employee relations including\:
    • Interpretation of employment contracts, enterprise agreements and other workplace and related legislation
    • Performance management
    • EEO
    • Counselling / Discipline and Termination
    • Grievance Management
  • Assist the business to represent UGL dealings with union officials on site and assess Right of Entry requests
  • Prepare reports tracking project information including but not limited to, wage trends, training delivered, Right of Entry outcomes.

About you

  • Several years’ experience in industrial relations in the construction, mining or manufacturing industry preferred. Competent in interpreting industrial / enterprise agreements. Strong understanding of labour hire agencies/agreements and commercial framework.
  • Knowledge of legislative and economic environment as appropriate to the role (e.g. contract law; construction industry etc.).
  • Understand and interpret contract terms and conditions.
  • Highly developed organizational skills and the ability to work collaboratively but execute outcomes independently.
  • Industrial advocacy experience in Fair Work Commission
  • Experience to provide written and verbal advice on a day to day basis and offer sound, practical and accurate advice and solutions for the business across all IR/ER aspects such as strategy, enterprise bargaining and dispute management
  • Possesses the ability to develop strong working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders including site-based management, union representatives, employees and client IR personnel, and capacity to influence decisions relating to IR/ER matters
  • You will hold a Bachelor degree in IR or equivalent
