About the team
This role will be working in a newly formed team within Adaptavist Product, line managing one Software Engineer and overseeing the contributions of 3 other engineers, as well as focusing on the development of an application within information security. The Engineering Team Lead role is a pivotal position within our organisation. This role will provide invaluable contributions towards the shaping and enhancement of our Engineering culture, working in tandem with fellow Team Leads and Engineering Managers
About the role
This position will collaborate closely with an Engineering Manager and an extensive, multi-talented product team, both locally and remotely, to drive the development of cutting-edge InfoSec and Compliance Applications. As the Engineering Team Lead of a dynamic, newly-formed team, your remit will include working closely with product managers and leadership to devise a strategic roadmap aimed at the successful delivery of high-quality applications and features within the InfoSec and Compliance domain. The applications will encompass a myriad of ecosystems (including, but not limited to, Atlassian and monday.com) and may also encompass standalone SaaS apps.
As the highest-ranking engineer within the team, you will take the reigns in facilitating solution design, while building upon the existing knowledge and skills within your team. This will also involve proactively seeking input from other engineering teams. You will lead a team practicing continuous delivery so you have to be comfortable shipping to production daily and also working with more traditional software delivery.
Your leadership and management style should embody values of autonomy, mastery, continuous learning, ethical decision-making, and a commitment to conscientiously managing technical debt.

Providing a platform for developers to perform tasks of varying complexity
Assist with priority setting for products
Delivering updates to key stakeholders
Ensure the team has the right tools, technology and freedom to deliver their work and innovate
Leading software development team following agile processes
People Management
Hiring and/or onboarding new team members
Mentoring, coaching and developing a team of Software Engineers of varying level of experience
Working with direct reports to set objectives and to create and execute development plans
Facilitating and enabling collaboration
Aligning the team with product and business priorities
Engineering
Designing, writing and testing solutions
Complex, collaborative problem solving
Performing code peer reviews
Writing automated tests at unit, integration and functional levels and manage code quality within the team
Troubleshooting builds and deployments
Assisting with support escalations
What we're looking for
Essential
Strong software development skills in one backend technology (Java, Groovy, Python) and ideally one of the following frontend technologies (TypeScript, ReactJS, Vue.js, Next JS).
Experience collaborating with & coaching more junior engineers
Experience with Agile Methodologies
Knowledge of implementing and running CI / CD
Experience working on Cloud infrastructure, such as AWS infrastructure or other equivalent infrastructure
Understanding micro-services-oriented architecture with extensible REST APIs
Desirable
Experience of Information Security industry
Experience of contributing to company ISO and/or SOC2 compliance frameworks
Experience with mentoring and coaching more junior engineers Experience leading or managing a team
Experience working across the full development stackAtlassian Ecosystem experience
Strong experience in Java, Groovy, ReactJS and Typescript
Any kind of plugin development experience
Leading of agile ceremonies
AWS Certified
Experience developing applications with serverless architecture
